“Look it’s not that hard, just go be cool for a few hours and if you get stuck just ask yourself: WWHD–-what would Henry do?”
They used to swap places all the time as kids. At school, at the playground, at practice. For fun. It had been easy then—like a quick changing of jerseys between periods. That was before the invisible fork in the road that had inexplicably parted them in their teens. It's been over a decade since they’ve done this bit. And Shane doesn’t want to do it. Not because he can’t do it but because he is so, so tired of playing clean-up crew for Henry’s fuckups.
Shane hesitates, jaw tightening. Then he slowly exhales through his nose.
“Do you. Still have. The clip-ons.” Shane grits out.---

Summary
If Ilya was hurt, Shane would be the last one to find anything out, because on paper, they were nothing to each other. Less than nothing. Officially, they hated each other.
The thought of Ilya in that position—trapped on the other side of a locked hospital door, frantic, blind, and treated like an intrusive stranger—made his stomach twist with a violent wave of unease.
He couldn’t do that to him. He wouldn't.
OR
In a moment of impulsivity, Shane makes Ilya his legal healthcare proxy. When he's injured in the infamous Boston game, it takes everyone (including Ilya) by surprise.

Summary
Shane ended up falling in love with Downton Abbey, discovering the show a year after it's run ended. Problem was he was a hockey player and he couldn't reveal his identity. He also wanted to discuss the show with someone, but the fandom was full of people who'd seen the whole show.
On an impulse, he made a burner account and sent out his first tweet, wondering if this was a dumb idea. But he was surprised and delighted to find someone had responded.
@LadyJane24
I know I am late to the show but is there any Downton Abbey fans out there who are also just discovering the show? Would love to discuss if so. No spoilers please.
#DowntonAbbey #Season1@CountessLilyofRussia81
@LadyJane24 I also just found the show. Only finished till episode 2. DM?And just like that, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, famous hockey rivals, ended up chatting with each other about Downton Abbey. And maybe even more.

Summary
Shane Hollander is set to star in the new hit reality dating show "Love off the Ice." When the producers present a twist, he will now have to compete alongside his rival and secret lover, Ilya Rozanov.
****
“What we're offering you, Shane, is 2 weeks of vacation on an island surrounded by beautiful women and 25 grand.” The producer acted like there was no better opportunity, which, to most people, there wasn’t. He saw Shane’s hesitation. “Now, if that isn’t enough, there is a twist to the whole show that I think will really get fans excited and also may sway you, as a man who loves competition.”
There's a knock at the door. “Perfect timing,” the producer opened the door. “Ilya Rozanov, welcome.” The producer shook his hand, and Ilya locked eyes with Shane. What the fuck was Ilya doing there?

Summary
“There you are,” Ilya murmured.
Shane exhaled shakily through his nose. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For showing up like this.” Shane swallowed. “For being… weird.”
Ilya frowned immediately, almost offended by the suggestion. He slid one hand higher along Shane’s thigh, grounding him there.
“You got hurt,” he said softly. “Someone hit you very hard and your team lost and your brain is still running around in circles because you care too much about everything. Not weird.”
Shane laughed quietly at that, though it cracked in the middle. “You make me sound exhausting.”
“You are exhausting,” Ilya replied. “But I like exhausting.”OR
After a CCM shoot that neither of them can forget, Shane and Ilya begin an anonymous email exchange that becomes more real than anything they’ve said face to face. Together they explore where communicating emotions gets you. When Ilya disappears, his emails stop—but Shane keeps writing. One year later they are forced to confront everything they left unsaid and unsent.
Told through snippets of emails and intimate moments, they explore longing, learning how to be seen, and choosing someone—not just in the moment, but over and over, on purpose.
