This is a beginner's guide / primer / introduction for readers and writers (possibly better titled “Guide to the Archives”, as someone suggested on Facebook — though that makes me feel like Virgil to some Dantean cerchio or bolgia, prompting me to think instead “Guìdo della archivio” [my 13-14c Genoan is a bit rusty, seriously, so I hope that I got that right]). My later tutorials in this series cover somewhat more advanced stuff, but I've seen so many people (sometimes long-timers) in need of the basic stuff that I finally decided to write this.
One Stop Shop-'n'-Drop? Not quite, but it explains a lot of things that you might not find easily (in some cases, not for years), or might assume work like some other site (which is a hit or miss assumption), and will point you to a number of resources.

The dock house door flies open and a boy comes bouncing out.
“Another day, another dollar!” Luke hollers. He’s wearing giant aviators, board shorts, and a life vest, even though he was just indoors, and the water around the petro dock is six feet deep, at most. Calum cracks a smile. Luke beams back with enough force to burn Calum’s retinas.

“Cal! Have you met Luke?” Ashton has one arm around a tall blonde guy wearing a sheepish smile and a barely buttoned shirt, and he wraps his other around Calum, pulling him in close. “You should talk. You’ve got a lot in common. Shit exes, for example.”
Calum looks over this Luke person he apparently has a lot in common with, and he does seem a little familiar. Maybe Calum has met him before. But that doesn’t seem right either, because he thinks he’d remember meeting someone so…bright. Noticeable. Luke doesn’t exactly blend into a crowd. Calum’s not certain, though — he could’ve met Luke while he was super drunk or super tired or super distracted by his ex-boyfriend.
“Sure, yeah,” Calum agrees, dodging the question. “Luke, would you like to spend a fun evening talking about our shit exes and feeling sad about it?”

After a difficult breakup, Calum meets Luke, who's recovering from a difficult break-up of his own. They bond over the shared experience and wind up in a complicated friends-with-benefits situation.

Summary
Things are going pretty well for David in Schitt's Creek. He works for Wendy at the Blouse Barn, and she has taken his suggestions to make the place less skanky. His co-worker Rachel has lots of relationship problems with Patrick, who works at the coffee shop across from the Blouse Barn. David barely knows him, other than that he makes the perfect caramel macchiato. David seems to keep getting caught in the middle of Rachel and Patrick's relationship troubles, which is very uncomfortable, to say the least.
This is the story of Rachel and Patrick's relationship falling apart and David and Patrick getting to know each other, eventually falling in love.

It’s different when all you have are words. Sometimes for the best, but sometimes words aren’t enough. Words without any emotion, words without any way for Calum to convey that when he types out, “I miss you a lot,” to Luke, he means it, earnestly, but not so earnestly it would make Luke uncomfortable.
But since he can’t do that, he just deletes it without hitting send. Every night.
