Stand-alone Goren and Eames story, and not part of my series. Non "ship" for those who dislike it. Something a little different for the Winter Solstice. Enjoyed writing this: hope you enjoy reading it.

"It's actually part conference and part publisher exhibition," Zes continued, leaning forward. "The first part of the week they hold discussion groups and roundtables and have panels, then later in the week the conference is opened to the public to interact with the authors. It's unique in that aspect, a cross between a writers' seminar and a book fair."
The first steps in promoting Bruno Volpe's war journal, edited by Robert Goren, have begun. The family will travel north to Springfield, MA, where they'll make new friends and encounter several old ones, recalling a tragic family murder that occurred while Goren and Eames worked in Major Case--and also the price of expectations on the survivors.

If you've never read the series, all you need to know: Alex and Bobby have been married since 2021 and live in a small town in Connecticut; Alex currently works on an advisory committee for the NYPD; Bobby is a profiler for the FBI. "The Wizard" and "Princess Ozma" are the roles they play hosting a trivia game. Abril Diaz lives in the house next door with her two grandchildren Carlos and Ana, and Viola Perrino is a mutual friend. Chronologically takes place between the stories "Kintsugi" and "Quiver," and is a sequel to "Madness." Started for Kinktober, but lost in Real Life.

A one-shot set during and after the episode "Frame." A plot bunny that just grew and grew. So, of course, spoilers for seasons 6 and 7. NOT part of the Milbury series, although the names fit into the Milbury universe. A few lines from "Faithfully" are requoted verbatim at the end of this story.

Robert Goren initially thought it was an earthquake until he realized the vibration originated next to him. He opened his eyes to find their daughter Olivia between himself and Alex on the bed, bouncing up and down as if she were five instead of ten.
"Aren't you supposed to knock?" Alexandra Eames Goren asked sleepily and levered herself on her left elbow, pushing her hair behind her ear. The expression on her face was indulgent rather than reprimanding.
Olivia stopped bouncing, looked guilty, and said, "I knew you'd want to rest before today and not be doing anything private. How can you sleep? It's moving day!"
Moving house isn't the only change in the air. Summer fluff and a little bit of fun.
