Summary
Early on, [their attorney] was the one who'd warned them of Judge Sakai.
"He's a skilled arbitrator," she conceded, "but he's on the edge of retirement. He remembers the legacy of Native American boarding schools and children removed from minority parents without cause, and is reluctant that families should be split when no abuse was involved. With Randall's father being alive, he's a problem."
In October 2024, Robert Goren and Alexandra Eames began the long process of adopting their foster son Randall Shaw; now, 18 months later, all the inspections and interviews are over--but will a judge who's determined not to make the mistakes of the past work against their dreams?
The stories in this series all build on one another and should be read in order from the opening piece, "Requited." The previous title in this series was "Taken."

Coming up on the hour, his cell phone rang, and he reluctantly tore his attention away from his computer screen to dismiss what was probably a spam call.
Southbury Police?
A carefree winter school vacation turns sinister for the Goren family when a call from the police station plummets them into an ongoing investigation into child trafficking in the area, an investigation that now hits close to home.

Summary
Someone was tapping at the bedroom door. "Mama?"
Alexandra Eames Goren had been sound asleep on her right side, cushioned by Bobby's bulk behind her as good as a toasty heating pad, with his arm thrown carelessly around her belly. Now, as her nose and one eye peeped from under the covers, she knew instantly what was wrong...
Olivia, who stood framed in the doorway, arms hugging herself and hunched up even in a warm robe, complained, "It's cold."
One big snowstorm equals no electricity. Family fluff and fun stuff, before the next installment, which gets very dark.
The stories in this series all build on one another and should be read in order from the opening piece, "Requited." The previous title in this series was "Christmas Futures."

Olivia sighed. "We don't have enough money."
"But it's perfect," Randall argued.
..."What's wrong?" Alex asked, coming behind them with her cart full...
Robert Goren travels to Boston to discuss a new project with his publisher while Olivia and Randall work on a secret gift for Christmas. Christmas feel-good fluff.
The stories in this series all build on one another and should be read in order from the opening piece, "Requited." The previous title in this series was "Truth."
Merry Christmas and a better 2026 for all.

Summary
A delicate hostage negotiation following a child's kidnapping proves exhausting for Major Case partners Robert Goren and Alexandra Eames. When a crisis is averted, a sojourn for food and then some rest morphs into a most unlikely encounter.
Stand-alone Goren and Eames story, and not part of my series. Non "ship" for those who dislike it. Something a little different for the Winter Solstice. Enjoyed writing this: hope you enjoy reading it.

"Milbury" Stories (Alex Eames and Robert Goren) by Shadow_Lass
Fandom Elsbeth (TV 2024), Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU

Summary
I was 10 years late to the Law & Order: Criminal Intent party, but then fell hard in July 2021. At one bedtime in late August 2021, I mused, "I wonder what Robert Goren is doing now." I awoke thinking, "He's running a trivia game in a restaurant owned by his friend Shard." Okay, but who the hell was Shard? I had to find out. I also had a vision of a disillusioned Alexandra Eames having retreated to an apartment in Connecticut post-retirement. Her cousin, concerned after discussions with Alex's sister, invites her to dinner one Saturday evening where she re-encounters Robert Goren, whom she hasn't spoken to for over a year after having only phone/e-mail contact with him since 2012 when the FBI recruited him. The first story, "Requited," as you may guess, reunites them, and each subsequent story follows chronologically. Each story builds upon the previous one, so they should be read in order.Because I couldn't think of anything else, the series' title comes from the village in Connecticut where Goren has rented a home.

Summary
She was sinking like a stone.
Robert Goren did all within his power to cut the weight, hurling everything in his arsenal in the hope that she would realise he wasn't worth the struggle.
She was drowning. And still, Alex Eames held on. They were tethered together and it was too late to cut herself loose now—not that she was inclined to. Alex would let Bobby carry her down with him to the sediment itself.
This fic explores the relationship between Alex & Bobby through the course of S6-S10 and includes storylines from Blind Spot, Endgame, Amends, Untethered, Purgatory, Lady's Man, Loyalty, and The Last Street in Manhattan.

Summary
Like whisky, Robert Goren was an acquired taste. He knew it. She knew it (as did anyone that spent time in his company).
But Alexandra Eames liked whisky.
This story explores the deep bond between Eames & Goren. It covers the events of the series and beyond (including their interim absence during S9) with one major change. Eames's pregnancy in S3 wasn't a surrogacy for her sister. Instead, she chose to have a child on her own.
And Bobby learns to reevaluate a poignant question—is it too late?
Longfic. Slowburn. Unabashed Goren/Eames.
