Summary
Penny wasn’t good at many things — her ballet was sub-par, her lies easy to see through, and her inventions only decent enough to keep her alive. That’s what she had always been told. But there were two things she knew she was good at: fighting and watching .
In a lifetime of missions, Penny had learned people didn’t tend to look up a lot. They looked down, studying the flooring as if treasure was hidden among the crevices. They looked out windows or at clocks. Underneath beds and in closets. No one paid attention to the ceiling.
Or, by the time they did, it was already too late.
She tended to absorb information like a sponge, able to repeat conversations exactly and recall corrections she was given at ten, so it was a wonder that she still hadn’t figured out the rules of this place yet.

"'S okay, 'm here," Stan reassured in a whisper.

For a while, Stan allowed himself to process. Of course, he still didn't understand. "What are you talkin' about? "Cartman's fault"? Whaddaya mean?"
But Kyle let out a sigh as he drifted into sleep.

“No.” Kyle yelled, faltering in her flight. She stood in the open air, unmoving against Chaos. She trembled, despite the weightlessness. “You’re lying.”
Chaos laughed, brushing one hand through the tangles of her short blonde hair. “I would never lie about something so serious dear. It seems like our little friend had… oh how do you say, an accident before the rest of you arrived,”
“Stop talking,” Kyle grit out, swinging on the Professor. Her aim rang true, fist colliding with the blushed cheek of the villainess. She spun out in the sky, angling her hoverboard to slow her momentum, laughing, like a psychopath.
Chaos grinned, wiping away the trickle of blood from the corner of her mouth with her thumb.
“Oh I hate to be the one to break it to you, except that I don’t, but Mysterion screamed and cried and bled just like the rest of us. Asked for mercy, practically begged for it.” She licked the blood off her thumb, flashing a set of bedroom eyes at her. “Do you understand? It was the best thing Peter Parker could hope for now. That at the end of the day, he was completely alone. The room was dark because the only light he had was dim or flickering streetlights. The prevailing smells were dust, burnt drywall, and electrical parts. He could only hear the creeks of the house, perhaps some insects outside, and his own breathing.
He was completely alone, and it was relieving.
This was the best thing Tony Stark could hope for now. At the beginning, middle, and end of the day he was completely alone. The lights in his lab were blinding while in the penthouse they were dim. While he could smell machine parts or the new house smell, the scent of alcohol always lingered. Nowadays he hated the reactor in his chest that was still humming.
He was completely alone, and it was relieving.
