Summary
After months of being ghosted by Ilya, Shane gets horrible news about his health. At the age of 23 he gets diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is supported by his friends and family and yet he cannot stop thinking of his rival. But he and Ilya have never been more disconnected, so he resigns himself to fighting this without Ilya in his life.
Ilya knows he was an asshole last Spring. Shane has been ignoring him all summer. But he figures that once he's back in North America and the season starts, he'll be able to get back in Shane's good graces. And then Montreal announces that they have placed Shane Hollander on Long Term Injured Reserve and he panics.

Summary
Ilya and Shane marry after Rookie season
Due to Shane being a little more aware of himself thanks to Yuna, over-prepared mamma bear, explaining all types of sex/attraction to him from a young age (“He needs to be prepared for anything! I am not pigeonholing my son!”), Shane knows he’s crushing on, if not falling for, Ilya.
The butterfly effect occurs; this has only one outcome really. It’s a small thing. Tiny. When Ilya is not there for Shane’s Rookie of the Year award after-party, Shane is worried, needing to track down the other man, instead of slightly annoyed/upset that he would be without Yuna’s lessons.
This in turn leads him to not doing shots with Scott Hunter.
Which means only one thing: other than the whole ‘definitely being aware of falling for your rival’ tiny thing. It shouldn’t change much.
He is not drunk on that balcony with Ilya.

It’s been two years since the PLF war ended - two years since Izuku moved to the Rebel Isles and became Rafael’s switchblade, indefinitely. Izuku always planned to come home someday - he didn’t know when, but probably not for a long while. But if this letter from Nedzu is to be to believed, he’ll be having his homecoming a lot sooner than he thought.
They won’t be there for long. They only have to hide the fact that Izuku’s body is currently the host of (possessed by?) the leader of a ‘terrorist’ nation for a few weeks. Easy peasy, nothing bad will happen and no one will find out, obviously. Izuku didn’t have years of spycraft and warfare shoved into his head for nothing.
Or: I can’t get over Cacid’s switchblade no matter how hard I try so here I am writing fanfiction of a fanfiction. Hope you like it!
