This is absolutely GOOFY, and so much fucking fun. Well-written crack is my favorite. Here, WWX is a total goober, LWJ is beautiful and sweet and Ready For a Demon Boyfriend, JC is hilarious and a perfect younger brother (read: obnoxious, concerned, annoying, and adorable), LXC is the most charming Basic Bitch(tm) ever, MY cannot believe he has to Deal With All of This, and holy shit Lan Qiren. I genuinely laughed out loud several times while reading. Silly, light-hearted, and a joy to read.

I love the exploration of Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan's relationship here, the slow build of it, how frustrated and tetchy they are with each other, and how much they grow to appreciate each other. Everyone just feels so *human* in this story. Flawed and hurting and trying so hard. Ugh. <3

It was something about the crinkles at his eyes, the dimples at his cheeks. All the hallmarks of a genuine smile, and yet: something ever-so-subtly off .
This made more sense when Yue Qingyuan realized he was a traitor to Cang Qiong.

This story makes my thoughts churn, and I love that. This is such a fascinating glimpse/portrayal of the OG Shang Qinghua, and the conceit of arranged marriage really adds a layer of 'oh SHIT' to SQH's eventual betrayal of Cang Qiong. There are no happy endings here, and everyone knows it.

Shen Qingqiu awakens in the Sun and Moon Dew Flower body, more fungal than human, and networked into a vast, sentient mycelial network. His new body is more complicated than he anticipated. Luo Binghe finds him, and that is also more complicated than he anticipated.

Fucking delightful. Weird, frightening, upsetting, fascinating, and somehow, even with all of that being true, this story is soft and peaceful as well. Worth a read (or a re-read) when you are in the mood for something unsettling and thought-provoking.

Liao Qinglan is, now and forever, the peak lord of Zui Xian in my head, after reading this story. There is so much going on in this story, and it dovetails so nicely with what we know from canon. A half-heavenly demon? His beloved Shizun? What does any of that matter to Liao Qinglan? She's got better shit to worry about! :D Like how to maintain a friendship with a man who betrayed his sect (and whether she even should). And how the hell to make the best wolfberry wine she's ever tasted.
Well worth reading. I know I will be re-reading it.

'Competent Shang Qinghua' simps, come getcher food!! Fuck, this is an absolute blast. Moshang typical misunderstandings abound, but in a very believable, compelling way. :heart eyes: It is also an absolute TREAT to get this many words of MBJ's POV, holy shit. I absolutely love his thought processes and emotions throughout this story. I really enjoyed the 'bad guys' here as well, and the care and thought put into the worldbuilding and details is outstanding. I will absolutely be re-reading this.

A *lovely* long-read, when you are in the mood to get sucked in and under by a story. I've always been a sucker for identity porn, but this was so much more than that. The writer does a magnificent job of filling out the 'world' around XL, with lots of ghost OCs to get attached to, and so much going on in the story in addition to the pining/romance of it. Even the angsty/heart-breaking parts were a joy to read, and I just had a lot of fun reading this overall. <3 (And thirty fire emoji for the surprise sex; I don't want to spoiler it, but you'll know it when it happens :wipes brow:)

Delicious read. The characters are doing things we don't necessarily expect them to do, but it is all beautifully in-character, and makes everyone (not just SQH and MBJ) feel more likable. I love the tension in this; the author's note mentioned something about a 'divorced' vibe even though moshang were not married, and this fic carries that out perfectly. There's so much hurt here, and anger, and desire and love. Scrumptious.

The omegaverse dynamics are handled in a really interesting way here, too. Still *important*, but no one is like, a slavering beast or anything. This is probably the best hanahaki fic I have ever read. It has all the delicious longing and pining, but with the way the premise/story is set up, it is able to completely side-step all of the frustrating 'dear GOD would you just TELL him' vibes normal hanahaki has, and because of that, it reads as far more realistic and emotionally intelligent. The writing is fantastic, the story is compelling, the characters are all portrayed in tender, lovable ways (even LWJ's family, who arguably could have been vilified). It is also lovely to see these characters we know and love in a kinder world, and it softens them all in such wonderful ways. I'm certain I will re-read this.

Knowing a happy ending is promised, the hurt is all the more effective, really letting me sink into it, knowing I'll be pulled to safety in the end. And it is a happy ending for not only WWX and LWJ, but also JC, JYL, LSZ, and the Wens, which is fucking lovely. I'm sure I will re-read this.

This was a delicious longread, full of incredibly lovable characters who are thoughtfully portrayed. I love all of their relationships with each other in this story. Sometimes, a modern AU allows you to be a bit more gentle with how everyone meets and gets to know one another, and that is obvious in this story. There are really no antagonistic relationships, not even the ones we are used to seeing (WN & JC, JC & WWX, JC & LWJ, WWX & JC & JZX), with the exception of the Jiang parents. And even their portrayals, while harsh/awful, make perfect sense within the story, and it does not feel overdone.
I love all the bird facts, and all the minor OCs we grow to know and love over the course of the fic, and how very sweet and earnest NMJ is throughout the story. The story itself is structured and paced beautifully, and the writing is clever and fun to read. I've read this twice already, and I know I will read it again.
