“Jesus Christ,” Shane swears, slamming his laptop closed. “Ilya. What the fuck?”
“Woke up and you are not in bed,” Ilya glares at him, blanket draped over his shoulders. His curls are sticking up in every direction, nose red, and he looks adorable, completely ruining the point of his hazy glaring.
“Sorry, baby,” Shane says, biting back a smile. He puts his laptop on the side table, sitting up to make place for Ilya on the couch. “Why’re you up?”
“I told you,” Ilya grumbles, shuffling forward. “Woke up. Bed empty. No boyfriend.”

Oh. He’s ducking under the covers, under Ilya’s shirt, crawling up until he’s fully inside it—head pillowed safely on Ilya’s chest. The love that rushes through Ilya feels catastrophic, and he chokes with it. “Shane,” his voice trembles. Ilya pulls him closer, always closer. “Shane.”
Shane makes a high, soft noise in his throat, burrowing deeper into Ilya—almost like he’s trying to crawl inside Ilya’s body. Ilya would let him, if it were possible. Would carve out a place for Shane within himself, offer it with his bruised and bloody palms. Here, all of this—is for you. Shane makes that noise again—soft, pleading, like a whine—and Ilya succumbs, is helpless to.
He recognises it for the wordless plea it is, and gives Shane exactly what he wants. “Shanebug,” Ilya says softly, and Shane melts into his chest, every last string holding him up cut. “I love you.”

It’s Shane’s turn to blink at him. “Tags?”
“Yes,” Ilya says, rubbing his nose. God, it’s unfair how good he looks—wearing Shane’s old hoodie, curls flopping over his forehead and blushing pink. “Did not think you would come back so early. I was going to finish and put them all back before you noticed.”
Shane stares at him. “Why?” he asks, soft.
“You don’t like them,” Ilya shrugs, like it’s simple.
Ilya’s cutting off the tags from his clothes because Shane doesn’t like them. Ilya, who in all the years Shane has known him, has never once seemed bothered by them.
“Yesterday,” Ilya explains, reaching over the bed and dropping the scissors on the bedside table, next to a pile of cut off tags. So many of them. “You were pulling at collar. Like this,” Ilya tugs at the collar of his own shirt, mirroring what Shane did for probably a millisecond yesterday.
“You saw that?” Shane asks, awestruck. Fucking hell.

Better than some things my shanya creates," Ilya says with a shudder. "He fed me hummus cookies one time, and now I do not trust his baking. Must watch him make sweet treats so he does not put beans in them. Who puts beans in cookies?!?!" Ilya shouts in indignation. Harris can already tell people are gonna have a field day with this once he posts it. They always lose their minds when either Shane or Ilya mention each other in videos or appear in videos together.

Shane who has had far less drinks than Ilya has, or most of the team for that matter. Shane who is definitely drunk but a very cute drunk.
He knows Shane is drunk because at some point he came over to Ilya and hasn’t left his side since. That alone doesn’t tell Ilya that Shane is drunk but what does is that Shane has been super clingy and touchy with him all night.

Shane gets drunk at the Centaurs Stanley Cup win party and is not shy with the PDA— or the dance moves he apparently possesses.

He doesn’t say anything, but his cheeks are burnt red in the middle (last bits) of the night, and Shane wants to taste the colour of his blush. He wants the heat in his mouth of how crazy he makes Ilya, swallow it down to live with his own crazy while he hopes the dock breaks off from the land and they drift off into sea and just get to be this forever and ever.
“No?” Shane whispers, “did I get it wrong? You are not my baby?” He asks then because he can’t help but tease, because he wants to hear Ilya ask for what he wants, he wants to give Ilya anything he can. He wants to give Ilya this. He wants it to be theirs, baby, to say it without it hurting as much as it hums.
