Chapter Text
Iris prided herself in being a forward thinker. That morning she sent an owl to Gringotts to ask for a wizard or squib to pretend to give over the keys for her muggle relatives. She had spoken to Bill and knows that the fencing and security posts had been added. She just wasnt expecting the enormity of the house when she Bill, Michael and Janet pulled up.
The manor was huge, with multiple large windows and balconies. Iris felt herself tear up, not bad for the girl who once lived inside the cupboard under the stairs. "Wow, Iris it's like a castle!" Janet squealed.
"If this is what my relatives deem a small manor i am scared to go check out Slytherin castle," Iris laughed back. She felt herself relax at the view of her house, like some how she had always meant to be here.
The other Jacksons stepped out of their respective vehicles as Iris and Michael walked up the stairs. "It's beautiful," Michael told her. He could already see them filling up the house with children and love and kindness. Before Iris came into his life everything felt bleaq. Everyone wanted something from him, he felt like he couldn't even trust his family. But he knew he could trust Iris and he knew they were going to live a magnificent life together. He would make sure of it.
"Our first baby will live here," Iris replied with a grin.
A slightly pudgy man exited the front door with a large grin. He was wearing a bright red patchwork suit and grinned when he saw all the people gathered. "Lady Peverell-Slytherin, It is my deepest honor to meet you," The man said with a bow. The rest of the Jacksons exchanged a look. They hadn't realised how serious those titles were. "I am Abraxas Babbling, i am here to give over the house keys. From your account manager."
Iris nodded and grinned. This man was the father of Professor Babbling. "It's nice to meet you sir, thanks for coming on such short notice."
"It is no trouble at all, My Lady, I shall bid you ado, If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact Gringotts."
"I will thank you," She smiled. Timeline wise his wife is probably already pregnant with the professor. The man left through the gate and Iris distantly heard the tale tell noise of apparition.
"This place looks like a fucking castle!" Jackie laughed.
"If you think this is a castle you aint never seen one before," Iris laughed. "I went to school in a literal castle. In the highlands it was fucking Baltic."
"Baltic?" Rebbie asked.
"Cold, the castle had no central heating so everyone made do with the fire places. Hey i should be on the school board, maybe i can change that." Iris giggled.
"You went to school in a castle? How cool! Was it hard to get there?" Janet asked.
"We had to get a train at the start of the year but it's a boarding school."
"Wow, you are very posh. Miss boarding school," Jermaine laughed.
"Hey, i grew up very poor thank you very much!" Iris laughed. "And anyway my entire lineage went to that school."
"Will your kids go there?" Katherine asked with a frown.
"No." Iris replied honestly. "Hogwarts will always be a home for me but i want my family close to me. And there are too many memories surrounding that school i'd like to forget. Plus with Michael's fame here and mine home it would be best to have tutors." She was planning on teaching her kids magic, with Hermione curating the curriculum. But she would also need to give them a muggle education.
"I feel bad they wont have a normal childhood," Michael lemented.
"They will have a better one then either of ours," Iris promised quietly to him. "I love you."
"I love you too," Michael grinned pulling her into a kiss.
Suddenly she was swept of her feet and into Michaels arms. His brothers laughed, as Latoya and Janet awed. "What are you doing?"
"Carrying my wife through the threshold!" Michael replied heading into their home. They were greeted with a large open foyer with a grand stair case leading upward and a diamond chandelier. Michael put Iris down gently with a kiss, "This place is beautiful!"
"Wow, this place is amazing!" Katherine said, "This is yours?"
"Yep i could hardly believe it. This place is amazing. My ancestors had taste, " Iris giggled. Michael gave Iris a spin as she laughed. They toured the house with his family. Looking at the beautiful architecture. The luxury but comfortable furniture, the beautiful colours. Lots of warm greens and natural wood. There were a couple inactivated Portraits with previous lords and ladies of the house. Michael gave Iris a raised eyebrow when he saw it, she laughed with a nod.
His brothers pretended to pick out a room each, "Back off you moochers!" Iris said with a laugh.
"A lot of room you have here Iris, are you planning on filling it?" Jackie asked.
"Hopefully, I have always wanted a big family. " Iris said.
"So has Michael," Katherine said with a smile. Watching the two today had eased all her worries. There was no pretense with each other, just private laughs and jokes and smiles. After the accident she worried her son would be melancholy for the rest of his life when he wasn't on stage. Instead he found this beautiful woman with the same pure heart as his.
They loved each other in a way she hadn't seen before. But was grateful her son had it.
Iris felt her heart swell, for the Michael that didn't have her. The one who had a life of pain and people using him. As she watched him run around the garden with his brothers she was glad that this this story would have a different ending.
Iris decided that evening to make the family a English roast, since the house had been stocked with food. She prepped the chicken shortly after they arrived, she wasn't going to let her husband think she couldn't season food. When the chicken was done, she started on the Roast parsnips and potatoes and then started prepping the vegetables. The boys ran in from outside, "Ohh what's that wonderful smell?" Tito asked.
"A full roast dinner," Iris smiled. Michael came around the back of Iris and encased her. Hands either side of her. His family warmed at the sight. Iris rolled her eyes with a laugh as she continued to peel the potatoes. "I am so glad whoever stocked this kitchen was British."
"What's a roast?" Jackie asked.
"It's like thanksgiving dinner," Randy said.
"You take that back!" Iris laughed. "That is Morgana-damned blasphemy. Sweet Merlin!" The family all laughed at her. "It is the pinnacle of British cuisine. It's meat, Carbs and Veg!"
"Sounds good to me," Jermaine laughed, taking an uncut carrot off of the plate on the counter. He went for a second when both his mother and Iris slapped his hand away. Causing both women to laugh.
"It is good, and if you don't like it you can sleep in the garden!" Iris laughed. They had decided earlier before they left that they would all stay the night so that they didn't have to rush back to Havenhurst. The brothers and Iris were going to be heading back on tour straight from the house. "Nah I'm joking. You can kip in the stables."
She started on the batter for Yorkshires as Michael, Kissing her whenever she was near, followed her around. She laughed as she watched him spin out of her way and back at his side. "You like cooking?" Katherine asked from the island she and the girls were sat at.
"Yes, but only for people i like. I had to do the cooking for my relatives as a child but i still managed to develop a love for it. When i got older i started cooking with Mrs. Weasley and my godfather Sirius. We would make massive family dinners. None of her kids like cooking so she really appreciated my help." Iris snorted. She seasoned the potatoes and parsnips and stuck them into the oven.
"I'm sorry you had to do that," Janet said softly.
"Thanks Dunk," Iris grinned using the nickname that Janet had allowed her to use. She continued making the food surrounded by light and laughter. She may not have the Weasleys anymore but she had the Jacksons and that she was very grateful for. "My uncle went to prison for what he did to me, i can't be more grateful for that."
"As he should have," Michael said to her.
"I cope. I went through a lot as a kid, at the hands of my uncle and at the hands of a very evil person. But it shaped who i am today, and i quite like me."
"I like you too," Rebbie said, reaching her hand across. Just spending time with Iris made her realise how her brother fell in love so quickly. She was like a magnet of warmth and love. Rebbie had never met someone that lights up a room just by their presence.
"Thanks," Iris replied with a grin. She was finally feeling like she truly belonged.
