A rustle comes from behind him and he turns to see a mess of blond hair, falling over narrowed eyes.
And Izuku hates himself for how, after everything, his heart still leaps when it sees Katsuki. Still longs to run to him like a child that hasn’t learned his lesson yet, not afraid of being burnt.
Katsuki’s never been good at apologies, but Izuku has had enough of unspoken understanding.

Kaveh scans Alhaitham’s face, thrill shooting through him. “Are you serious?” he asks when Alhaitham’s hands curl into the waistband of his trousers and tug. “Alhaitham, I’m supposed to be reading.” He sounds breathless. He should probably fix that.
“I’m not stopping you,” Alhaitham says, settling between Kaveh’s legs. “I’m keeping myself entertained. Keep going.”

Kaveh raises his hands, palms up. "I have nothing to give, Al-Haitham," he says, and the other's eyes grow fierce.
"You do not have nothing, Kaveh," Al-Haitham says roughly. "You may have buried yourself in your self-doubt, but you are relentless. You shine even when the moon takes governance of the sky."
Kaveh gapes at Al-Haitham. "So what I'm hearing," he says slowly, "is that you will not kick me out for the time being."
"What you're hearing is that I will wait for you," says Al-Haitham.

Okay. There are two options here.
Option A: Tell the truth. Yeah, uh, hi. I’m Kaveh. I’m your roommate. Um. We slept together last night. Hopefully this doesn’t make things weird! Nice to meet you!
Option B: Run.
Kaveh is horrified to find out that his one night stand is actually his elusive new roommate.

As Kaveh inspects the space that is about to become his new home, he thinks to himself that the room with those marbled counters and a familiar set of wood utensils hanging on the wall. In fact, when he squints closer, he recognizes the model of the stand mixer that’s sitting in the corner. It almost looks like—
“My name is Al-Haitham,” the man—Al-Haitham, apparently—says, and Kaveh looks at him, looks at the chest that he vaguely recognized, turns to look at the counters that he now pinpoints from motherfucking YouTube, and fully lets his jaw drop again with no regard for propriety.
Fuck first impressions. It seems that they’ve already had theirs.
“No the fuck you aren’t,” Kaveh says.
Kaveh moves into the house of his archnemesis. And then he bakes for him, as one does for their mortal enemy that they definitely don't have a crush on.

Summary
Kaveh has achieved so much today, it should be fine to do this much for himself. It should be fine to enjoy this much. There is absolutely nothing that Al-Haitham could possibly do to ruin this day!
Of course, this is when Al-Haitham chooses to walk in covered in blood.
Kaveh has enough troubles on his plate even without dealing with his confusing relationship with and unfortunately lingering feelings for his stubborn, infuriating roommate. But when a strange conspiracy begins closing in on Al-Haitham and threatening the precarious balance of their daily lives, Kaveh finds himself having to reevaluate the nature of their relationship and reckon with the ghosts of the past.

There’s never really a good time, way, or reason to tell Kaveh about his long-lived, amoral, exiled, criminal ex-partner — who, Al-Haitham will note, was not any of those things at the time they were involved.
However, there is definitely a worst way for Kaveh to find out.

“A bodysuit, then.”
Kaveh hums. “That’s technically right. Although, this doesn’t provide quite as much…” He forms a circle with his thumb and forefinger. “Coverage, as an ordinary bodysuit.”
With a wink, he sits back and reaches for Alhaitham’s cup of wine. His words sink in, and it suddenly feels like the room is sweltering. “Lingerie,” Alhaitham mutters, jaw clenched.
“Mm.” Kaveh swirls the wine in Alhaitham’s cup, eyes glinting in the honeyed tavern light. “Lingerie.”
