Alastor swung his bare legs off the bed, his hooves clicking against the wooden floor. He didn’t stand, unsure if his trembling legs would take his weight just yet. But he had to go. Had to get away.
Smooth fingers ran down his spine, goosebumps causing his soft fur to stand on end—even his tail fluffed up from the ticklish yet pleasant feeling, begging to flick happily.
Fuck.
He needed to leave.
“Stay the night? Just until your morning broadcast?” Lucifer’s question was expected, his words tinged with hope and desire.
Alastor swallowed back his hesitation and forced a sly grin as he scanned the room for his discarded clothing. “Again? Quite insatiable, aren’t you, sire?”

Lucifer lifts his head and blearily looks around the room. A part of him must still be asleep because he’s pretty sure he doesn’t have a fireplace in his room. Or the skeleton of some kind of creature on the wall. And a...a tree? Several trees? Are those fireflies?
He stares at the floating little dots of light, and the misty bayou beyond them, then turns and squints at the other side of the room, where there's a wallpapered wall and dark-wood floors. He turns his head again, to the moss-laden trees, cattails, and glowing bugs, and then looks down at the red comforter he's burrowed in.

“Does Angel Dust tend to nest in his suite?” Alastor asked without preamble.
“Why’re you askin’ me?” Husk asked gruffly, briefly trying to feign ignorance. A single raised brow from Alastor was all it took to squash that recalcitrance out of him, his shoulders and wings dropping. “Yeah, yeah – fine. But why’re you askin’ me now? It ain’t like Angel’s gonna steal his own shit and pretend like it weren’t him. Besides, he ain’t anywhere close to bein’ in heat. It’s not him, boss.”

Items have been going missing around the hotel. Nothing of any value or consequence - just people's personal effects. Regardless of their importance, Alastor cannot simply stand by and let somebody rob folks in his territory, right under his nose.
He sets out to catch the thief - and picks up a less than useful helper along the way in the form of one miniature monarch - but comes up empty handed. Empty handed, that is, until later that evening.
With his past racing to catch up to him things and quickly spiraling out of his control, he might find that less than useful helper has a use after all.
