Summary
Do you want something, Ilya had asked. The answer was, as it always was, yes. But that had not been the question.

Summary
“Good,” Ilya praised, his voice thick. “So good for me. Taking my hand so well.”
Then with a final careful twist, he pressed his thumb alongside the four fingers, curling his whole hand into a loose fist. He began to push.
The sound Shane made was inhuman–a guttural, choked scream.
(or, Shane's boyfriend doesn't make him cum. Ilya needs to fix that)

Summary
"What are you doing here?"
Ilya looks at him. Shane has not moved from the doorway. He has one hand still on the frame.
"I don't know," Ilya says, which is the truest thing he has said in months.
Shane makes a sound that isn't quite a laugh. "That's not—" He stops. Runs a hand over his face. "You can't be here, Ilya."
The name. Again. Said almost like an accident.
"Why are you here?" he asks instead of responding to that.
Shane goes still.
"This isn't your place," Ilya says. Carefully. "I mean, you don’t live here. You live somewhere else, a real one, nicer, bigger, or I don’t know because I have never been to it. So why are you in the fuck building at four in the morning?"
Shane's jaw tightens. For a second Ilya thinks he won't answer, that he will turn and go back inside and this will be just another door between them and then Shane says, low and bitten-off: "I come here sometimes."
"Why?"
"You know why."
Or, After Shane leaves Ilya in Boston, Ilya becomes a mess and Shane thinks he's ruined everything. They both seek each other silently until they cross paths again. Eventually, someone has to say something.

Summary
“You are planning to rob me or what?” He hears Rozanov call, and he can’t help but smile slightly even as he rolls his eyes, closing the door to the linen closet and feeling strangely lighter than when he opened it, reassured that he’s just trying to read into a blank page, that today doesn’t mean anything more than Rozanov doesn’t mind him being around, which is strangely flattering.
“I don’t know,” he calls back. “Don’t Russians like diamonds and fur and stuff? Where should I start looking if I want to know what my options are?”
He hears Rozanov laugh, and it makes him smile.
When he joins him in the living room once more, Rozanov tugs him down to lean against him again. Shane goes easier this time, settling into it, knowing it doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that he just happens to be the closest warm body, the person on Rozanov’s roster who filled today’s slot.
(the tuna meltdown doesn't happen) (this does not mean they get ANY better at communication)

Summary
When Shane Hollander transfers to Centaur National Park, he expects nothing to change. Maybe just the weather patterns, but that’s it. Shane is proficient; a high-achiever in the world of being a fire lookout, and with a fresh start, he intends to keep it that way.
Insert Ilya Rozanov; the lead fire lookout of the park, and a right douchebag. Shane is involuntarily tied to him the moment they meet, and all he can hope for now is to survive the eight month season.
Escaping Rozanov’s enraging proximity presents harder than anticipated. Does he even bother to attempt the inevitable? And, when a confounding night, in fact, does change everything for Shane, it begs the question; does he want to?
