Summary
Right now he wants to ask Morgana what in the hell he’s supposed to do. He’s never met Kurusu’s parents. In fact they were never mentioned once since Goro has known him. But the lack of reference to them was enough for him to guess that they weren’t the shining heroes of Kurusu’s life. And if them shipping Kurusu off to Tokyo was any indication, then the lack of conversation about them wasn’t too difficult to parse. He should find some amusement that Kurusu’s life wasn’t so perfect in this facet either, but strangely all he feels is a simmering anger that slowly begins to take the place of his previous anxiety.
Or rather, Goro learns that Kurusu's life isn't the perfect image he always expected it to be. And that maybe they both understand each other far more than Goro ever truly realized. It's just unfortunate that it takes being forced into Kurusu's body and made to live his life to make that connection.

“Let’s find a place to stay,” Akira says. He’s already tapping industriously away at his phone like a man with a mission, doing God only knows what. “There’s a couple of hotels nearby, and one night won’t break the bank.”
The suggestion makes Goro’s brain come screeching to a halt.
A room? A hotel? The two of them? In a hotel room? Together? No. No no no, FUCK no—he’d rather light himself on fire and die screaming.
“Absolutely not,” he says, as soon as the shock wears off and his tongue starts working again. “That is not happening, Akira. Not in a million years.”

Open door. Peep round it. Akechi is a sort of heap on the step. Asleep? Or… possibly dead? Dead mom-killing ex-detective on Futaba’s doorstep? Didn’t he die four years ago? How is he here? Futaba hasn’t slept. Or eaten. She shouldn’t have to deal with this. What do you even do with a murder-detective possibly-corpse? She closes the door.
Okay, no, she can’t just ignore him and hope he goes away.
Well, she could though. It’s super super tempting.
No, come on. What would Ren do? What would Sojiro do?

“Are you happy?”
Goro gives the question real thought because he never wants to give any less to Ren. “I do feel happy. I enjoy my work and I’m not facing any major stressors. I also have you in my life.” He can see the future stretching out over darts and billiards and chess and drinks. He hopes they can have this forever.
Ren holds his gaze for a few seconds before his expression pinches and shutters and he looks away, sinking Goro’s heart with it.
I said something wrong, he thinks, near frantic. Something is wrong.

He was still wearing his dented cuirass, a leather pauldron on his right shoulder. The moonlight through the stained-glass windows painted him in blue and gold.
“Forgot to leave your armor behind in the gymnasium?” asked William lightly, skirting around him to set the prayer book back in its tabernacle.
“Something like that,” said Michael. He stepped out of the shaft of light, joining William at the perimeter of the circular room.
William closed the ornate wooden door of the tabernacle and turned to face him. “How did you know I’d be here?”
“I know you,” Michael said simply. I love you, he might as well have said, for the way it sent William’s heart skittering inside his chest.
Michael has been betrothed to the princess since their infancy. But it’s her brother he really wants.
