    Franklin “Foggy” Nelson is a slick New York City attorney whose parents may literally die of heartbreak if he doesn’t make it to their new home in some sleepy village in North Country for Christmas.

    Matt's a small-town lawyer with a prickly exterior and a heart waiting to be melted, if only Foggy can figure out a way to keep his foot out of his mouth for five seconds.

    Unfortunately, Foggy's job tends to follow him around like a lost puppy, and Matt has his reasons for not trusting the holidays.

    “Aren't you with Landman & Zack?” Karen asks. “Or did I hear your parents wrong?”

    “I interned with them,” Foggy clarifies, “and they did offer me a position afterwards, but I wound up with HC&B instead.”

    “Because Landman & Zack are basically supervillains?” Karen hazards.

    “I signed about fifteen different non-disclosure agreements that prevent me from agreeing with that assessment in public,” Foggy tells her, and Matt huffs a laugh, something Foggy wasn’t sure he was capable of. It’s a nice laugh, and Foggy wants to hear it again.

    "My bed. It smells like you," Red says at last. "It... you were in it."

    Fuck. Fuck, shit, damn it. He didn't think this would come back to him.

    "Did we have sex?" Red muses, but his face shows no trace of the usual teasing, or the smirk Frank has gotten used to. It has... sadness to it, a tinge of longing and hurt and frustration, like he's not sure if he wants to remember it. Well, not that Frank can really blame him. Who would sleep with the fucking Punisher and actually be proud of it? "Do we still... are we fucking? How did that happen?"

     

    (Or, Matt gets shot in the head, loses his memory and a little bit more than that. He doesn't remember what they were to each other, but somehow, Frank still becomes the anchor that keeps him from going under when the world starts to fall apart.)

    The thing is, despite what others may think and believe and assume, Tony is unhappy.

    He has a lovely husband, yes, who spends all of his waking hours at the office instead of at home with his family. He has two children who look at him like he can fix everything in their world, yet they feel Steve's absence more and more each day, and Tony doesn't know how to fix that. And then, Tony meets Natasha Romanoff, one of Steve's colleagues, and he starts to realise exactly why his husband prefers not to come home anymore.

    Despite this, Tony loves Steve, loves him enough that he's willing to ignore any indiscretions, if it means that his family will stay together and whole.

    But when Tony's first love, James, also known as the most terrifyingly competent mass murderer in the world, the Winter Soldier, shows up after almost a decade, asking for his help to fight a terrorist organisation that Tony knows all too well, suddenly, keeping his family together and whole isn't as easy as he thought it would be, when it was just him who had to suffer.

    Now, he's torn between the man that left but came back to him and the man who loves him but maybe not enough.

    Now, after two years, a conversation at a bar, a sexy photoshoot, and several gifts from a secret admirer later, the feelings that Tony had kept hidden away are resurfacing, and he has to deal with them whether he wants to or not.

    (Oh, and of course, it doesn't help that the police station and the fire station are right next to each other, or that his friend is dating one of Steve's friend.)
