Summary
He’s just begun to fruitlessly pick at his hair when there’s a bang, harsh and loud, and he ducks, dropping his comb. The second one makes him tuck and roll out of the room, reaching for a weapon. He’s got his hand on a loose wingding when there comes a harsh hiss. Water under a lot of pressure cracking off of tile. Dick creaks up into a crouch, poking his head around the doorframe, staying low. His shower is suddenly working again, water hammering into the stall and sluicing out onto the floor. His drain, never very functional, appears to have given up entirely.
It takes him half the wall to find the damn pipes and turn the water off, the shower blasting like a machine gun the whole time. For a moment there’s quiet, just water dripping. His phone rings where he left it on the counter, jumping with the vibration. BRUCE, it reads. Dick answers.
“You will not fucking believe the morning I am having,” Dick says. “Everything happens to me. I’ve told you about my landlord, right?”
“Dick,” Bruce says. Something in his voice makes the hair on the back of Dick’s neck rise.

"No shit." An official liaison, jesus christ. Clint just hit the fucking jackpot. "Does he give you extra goodies because you're special? Hey, you think he could get me candy?"
Bucky shakes his head. "If we're gonna bunk together, I'm gonna be spending a lot of time shutting you up on my cock," he says, and that's even more excellent news.

Satomi noses against Kyouji's spine, and traces over his tattoos. The pierced moon, cherry blossoms, a crane with its long serpentine neck and bayonet beak and wings outstretched, each feather articulated in ink. Some lines are raised and scarred, others so smooth he might as well have been born marked. Satomi presses his lips to a swath of blood red, then he can't stop. A hundred small, chaste kisses across the entire mural, minutes lost to it. Kyouji's shoulder muscles twitch in semi-resistance, like they are not used to this sort of touch. But Satomi is patient. He will break them down, kill them will kindness.
For one crazy, fleeting moment, it feels like he's doing the thing he's always wanted to do, ever since he fell in love with Kyouji: lure a dangerous man into the trap of his heart, and domesticate him.

“It doesn’t sound like my sort of environment, Marge,” Gale says, picking up an astrophysics textbook that pushes the bounds of what a single-handed grip is capable of. It strains the tendons in his wrist as he tries not to drop it on the way to its new home in the built-in bookshelf. The edges of it are bloated, almost rubbery with how many times it’s been painted over in the same shade of white, a few spots chipped away to show rich brown wood underneath.

When Gale smashes a backhand, and Egan lunges for it, but the quick bounce spins it just past his racket, he stumbles, catches himself on his hands with his racket clattering against the hard court, and he starts laughing, wet and winded—laughing still as he straightens up, cheeks reddened, glistening under the sun. He scrubs the back of his wrist, his black sweatband, over his forehead.
“See? You love it when I make your dad mad.”
“Egan,” Gale warns, but all the authority is lost in his panting. Egan wipes his forehead again, racket tapping his thigh.
“Missed playing with you, Buck.”
“We played two weeks ago, in Cincinnati. C’mon, still your serve.”

Gale meets John Egan at a Challenger in Bordeaux when they're both 19 years old. After that, he can't seem to shake him. But what's more is, despite what his dad says about Gale's game, and what the commentators say about their rivalry, and what he's been told about tennis his whole life, Gale doesn't think he wants to.

It probably wasn't a good idea to just up and leave Gotham, Jason can admit to that. But it was hard to resist the temptation of an isolated, private cabin out in the woods, firmly out from under the too-watchful eyes of way too many Bats. It's just a few days. Just a little break to give himself a bit of time to relax, maybe... explore some stuff. It could be fun. (At the least, it's definitely going to be educational.)
