Summary
Rather than decisively ending the conclave, Vincent's speech simply splits the vote further. With tensions rising between factions with every ballot cast, Vincent and Thomas realise they must begin to navigate being the last two candidates standing for a papacy that each wants the other to have.
"We have been sequestered for fifteen days, Thomas," Aldo says, still facing away. "Fifteen days, and the vote is still even between you and Cardinal Benítez. The world will be envisioning a scandal by now."
