Alex’s eyebrows knit together, “Right now? You want to say something right now?”
And, yes, Alex is a little irritated. But Henry is right there, and he smells..really good, and his eyes are so blue even in this horrifically unappealing lighting and they’re wide and full of want.
So, when Henry says “Please,” and he frowns a little bit, Alex says “Yes.”
But, Henry doesn’t say anything, instead, he grabs Alex by his vest straps and connects their lips.

Summary
Alex tosses him a smile, a soft one, one the average person may miss if they weren’t all but burning holes into the man’s face with how hard they’re staring. Then, he’s gone. Quick as that. Like he didn’t just instill himself in Henry’s brain forever. As if it was just a blip in his day to exchange glances with Henry.
And, Henry thinks, it probably was, for him. A person who looks like that is certain to cause a few people to walk into lamp posts due to gawking. Henry was just another admirer, someone Alex will probably never think of again.
Correction: Henry is going to die.

Summary
Henry wonders, briefly, if Alex will murder him for telling their daughter this story. It was neither of their proudest moments, not a story they’d willingly share at office parties or family dinners, that’s for sure. However, it’s a memory he’s certain neither of them will ever forget, and it’s definitely helped him relax during a stormy night or two.
So he figures it’s worth it to try.

“Bleeding.” Claire brings her chubby little hand up to point at his forehead.
Henry touches his cold fingers to his forehead, realizing the bandage he’d placed over his eyebrow has been bled through. He thinks he’s got more in the center console. He hopes.
“Daddy’s alright,” he assures her, finally snapping the buckle together over her puffy pink coat. He gives her the best smile he can muster. “Ready to go for a drive?”
Claire nods at him, big blue eyes inquisitive as he palms her hair, thumb brushing blonde locks off her forehead. “Where’s we goin’?”
“Somewhere better,” he says, and closes the back door tight.

What he hadn’t anticipated was that his burly guard would overdo the fist to his temple, and he would find himself suddenly regaining consciousness with a mouthful of musty straw in a cell without even remembering how he got there. Goddammit. He had one job. Memorize the way to the cells. Not run his mouth. Alright, there had been several directives.

Alex looks down at the glasses as if he’d forgotten they were there and laughs. Now that Henry is looking properly, he sees that Alex’s gaze is a little glassy—he’s not drunk, but he’s definitely on his way there. “Two of these were for June,” he objects. “Besides, Your Majesty, it’s a party.”
“My proper title is ‘Your Royal Highness’; ‘Your Majesty’ is reserved for the Queen,” Henry says tightly on autopilot.
“Oh, thank you for the etiquette lesson,” Alex shoots back, his voice full of sardonicism.

Summary
After making it out of the maze, Alex, June, Nora, Liam, and Spencer navigate the landscape of a world they were robbed of a chance to grow up in, battling the virus that still runs rampant, questionable accomplices, and WCKD, who's still in hot pursuit of them; of the ever elusive cure. Torn between morality and freedom, Alex realizes that there are multiple definitions for both, and not everyone is in agreement.
More love means more to lose, but Alex has never been averse to a little risk. The question isn't if he wants to leave a legacy or change the world, it's how far he's willing to go to make it out with the people he wants to share it with when they make it to the safe haven.
