While Shane and Ilya still meet at the World Juniors things develop a lot quicker in my timeline.
David notices quite quickly that Shane and Ilya are drawn to each other, he also notices that Ilyas father is a cold and distant man.
As we mainly see things from an outside viewpoint there is no Shane and Ilya smut.
