Osgood is standing the other side of her desk, waiting expectantly with one hand in her pocket and the other on her hip. She cocks her eyebrow, a teasing smile playing about her lips but that’s not where Kate’s focus is right now.
She is wearing her labcoat, Kate had that right. But not over her regular clothes – no smart trousers, no waistcoat, no buttoned-up shirt. Nothing under the white material but her bra and knickers and bare skin that makes Kate’s pulse beat a hurried rhythm.

Kate blinks at her reflection in her bathroom mirror. Hair and makeup presentable, plain white blouse just waiting for the formal black jacket laid out on her bed to complete the look, bags still under her eyes but minimal sign of tears. Professional, authoritative, appropriately funereal.
Not bad for someone who was thrown out of a plane barely a week ago.

Mornings are the only time that feel normal any more. Osgood is used to going about their morning routine without their sister in the back of their mind.
The thought comes as she spits toothpaste into the sink, and is immediately – intrusively – followed by a reminder of how not-normal today is in the unforgiving black of her shirt in the bathroom mirror. What does one wear to one’s own memorial service?

Summary
Checking on Osgood’s location became a not-infrequent habit. There’s something comforting to her in watching the steady pulse of Osgood working late at the Tower in the archives, like there’s a shred of the old UNIT still left there where Kate no longer has time to visit their old haunts. Too busy with undoing all that Prentis did to tear them down – new leases, new ways of working, and trust that Osgood and her team will hold the foundations steady.
The Black Dog also seems to be a not-infrequent habit of Osgood’s. Sometimes with other orange dots, an evening spent with colleagues in a pub that’s now technically The Local for the new UNIT-owned accommodation, Kate’s building among them. It’s not Osgood’s local though, a fact that makes the evenings where her orange light flashes alone in the pub somewhat curious.
