“I don’t want to be a band-aid for your grief,” Tommy spells out his biggest concern.
“This is about you and me, nothing else.” Evan says it very firmly, very sincerely. “I still have feelings for you. I know what I want, and I want it with you. I need you to trust me on that.”
Tommy isn’t sure he should, but he wants to believe Evan so badly it hurts. This is what he wanted all along, and this time he isn’t going to screw it up. He’s going to choose happiness instead of running from it, even if it goes against his nature.

They've been big on hiking and camping since before they were married, and it's always been easy and enjoyable, even when conditions weren't ideal or something went wrong. If anything, if makes it easier to remember individual trips. It's a landmark moment in their relationship, a story to mark the passage of time. Buck is holding Robbie's hands and helping their son stand on his thighs while he lounges in a camping chair. “This is going to be ‘The Time Papa Lost His Mind Over A Giraffe,’” he decides, and Robbie's knees wobble and his eyes get big, so Buck’s get big and they smile big at each other.
