“Did you smack your head that caused your loss of hearing? I’m retiring. It’s time to let go. Runway has reached stability, and I have no doubt that Nigel will be able to handle any problem that comes his way.”

Miranda is about to step down as the Editor-in-Chief of Runway, to take the position of Global Head of Contents. She wants Andy to write her biography for reasons only she knows.

Summary
Even after their divorce, there was still this connection between them. She felt it. She felt Miranda. She felt that the older woman was not okay, that she was suffering. That Andy had hurt her. But now—now, she can’t feel Miranda. It’s like the connection that they had was fading. Walking to the subway, she told herself that it was because of their talk. Because now, they’re finally over. She hoped for a second chance, but would fate reward those who throw away the good things that they had? Of course, not, Andy thought.
There are no second chances for those who can’t be content with what they were given.

It was December. A day—no, less than an hour before Christmas. The air should be cold because the snow was starting to fall, and they were standing by Rio’s front porch. Except it wasn’t. To Rio, it felt unusually warm—hot, even. She didn’t know if it was caused by her emotions or by the fact that Agatha was finally standing in front of her again, though, not for the reasons she wanted her to have.

Agatha froze. What he asked was echoing in her mind. She turned around. As if sensing it, Rio did too, catching her eyes. Those brown eyes that looked so much like Nicky’s.
Maybe Agatha didn’t hate her after all. She hated the fact that Rio looked so much like Nicky. She hated how much she reminded her of him.
She saw how Rio’s expression changed.
“What did you just say?” Rio snarled at the boy.
