"Don't fall asleep," Shane says, and Ilya's eyelids fly open. "There's still one more surprise. But you won't get it if you're not…" Shane pauses, realizing he sort of has to get in character for this. It feels abrupt, and like it could lead to Ilya making fun of him. But that's not Ilya's style at all, especially when Shane is trying something for him. It's more awe and appreciation on his face than chirping and smirking these days.
Shane clears his throat, because if he's going to get into character, he's going to fucking conquer it.
"Ilya, baby," he says, his voice higher, naturally quieter in this register. "If you're not a good boy, you won't get your second surprise." Ilya's jaw drops, no hint of anything but earnestness on his face.
"Mommy?" he says, and Shane thinks he sees Ilya's eyes glaze over.
OR: Shane cooks up further mommy kink play in his beautiful mind. Ilya's never been more thrilled.

"I want to call you…" Ilya starts, pausing before he can say it.
"Yeah?" Shane sounds breathless.
"…Mommy," Ilya says with conviction he does not feel.
Shane stops breathing, which isn't necessarily a bad sign. It means he's surprised. If he stops breathing for like 20 seconds or more, that's when Ilya starts to get worried.
But a few moments later, Shane's breathing normally while shaking his head slightly, as if to toss around the new information in his beautiful brain. He sits up from Ilya's lap to look into the fire, still processing. Ilya tries to not sound winded after his confession, his breath spilling out of him as he anticipates his boyfriend's response. At least Shane hadn't laughed.
Still looking into the flames, Shane takes a deep breath. "So how do you want to do this?" he says.
OR: Shane finds out Ilya has a mommy kink while they are camping, and immediately uses his freaky brain to make it the hottest sex of Ilya's life (so far).

Summary
In the weeks following the arrival at Erid, Grace has a lot of things to get used to. The Eridians are peculiar, the temperature onboard is parallel to his worst nightmare, and Rocky is away most of the time. He understands that Rocky’s time is best spent in other places than in his arms– perhaps best spent catching up with Adrian. Even so he can’t help but yearn for his mate. Even more so he can’t help but yearn for Adrian’s approval, too, but the plan was to ease Adrian (and all of Erid) into the news of their mating gently.
Yet things just can’t seem to ever go as planned.
One day, Rocky doesn’t show up, and as soon as Grace hears why… Oh. He won’t have it. On that day, Grace puts on his EVA suit and decides it’s time for a rescue mission. It doesn't matter that he might burn for it.
Or: Rocky gets sent to jail and Grace does all the stupid shit he shouldn’t to get Adrian and Rocky reunited… again.
