Red Haired Shanks had wrapped himself in mystery and glory and vanished from the lives of everyone who cared about him, leaving a trail of old flames lost and confused in his wake.
Years later, Mihawk would have been content to finally give the duel long owed him. Buggy swore he simply wanted to give him a piece of his mind. Crocodile just wanted the pair to have some measure of closure, difficult as it might be. No one expected the rising star of the scarlet emperor to crash so suddenly and violently to earth. No one expected to fish a lost and broken Shanks out of the wreckage of his ship.
But maybe it takes disaster for old flames to flicker back to life, and for Cross Guild to bring in its most surprising member.

For their joint birthday, Shanks convinces Mihawk to join him at a noisy bar with the promise of free drinks and good company. Mihawk knew that the bar was just an appetizer for what would always happen next. But, Shanks prefers to flirt with omegas in front of Mihawk who, bored (offended), prefers to go home alone to his hotel. It was a shame about the surprise he had prepared for the redhead, but he didn't deserve a present. Except that on the way, Mihawk meets two big alphas and Shanks manages to pique his interest again, easily winning his gift.

So close to Shanks, Mihawk can feel it all; the weave of desire and anger, grief and want. Other emotions more precarious, voracious, things he doesn't have a word for. Those unnamed feelings are at least in part why Mihawk still doesn't know what he's doing here. He doesn’t like uncertainty inside himself. The world can do what it wants, but he was supposed to have found a way to silence all the tumult in his chest years ago. A sword to slice and a sword to silence, paralleling each other.
