A trip that included travel time to and back, plus the time it would take for diplomacy to occur, would amount to nearly two thirds of the year. That was far too long of a time for Jinshi to leave Maomao.
“Your Majesty I’m sorry but—” the Emperor cuts Jinshi off with his hand, dismissing Gaoshun and Basen from the room. The older man clears his throat as the door closes softly.

Summary
Maomao is bought out of her contract at the Verdigris House. Her true parentage had resurfaced, and the emperor needed a bargaining chip over Lakan. So she was sent to the rear palace. Not as a servant, not even as the emperor's consort, but as the Moon Prince's sole concubine. A mysterious figure nobody's even seen. How boring. She slowly learns to navigate her life at the palace. Maomao even makes a few friends. But mysteries soon begin to appear, and the sparkly palace eunuch somehow decides he needs her help every time something crops up.
This work contains spoilers for the Apothecary Diaries anime, but I've not read the light novels, so don't worry about that. And also Ah-Duo stays, because I want to write her in. And I don't like Loulan. I like Shisui though.
