It’s not presented to her with any grandeur or big pleading eyes. It’s not even held up to her to read. No, it rests on Alicia’s lap like it doesn’t mean anything, just an idle scrawling of letters rather than something she clearly wants a lot. Alicia is, pointedly, not looking at it at all, her eyes trained on a book, trying not to make a big deal out of it.

Through failure, pain, and unwittingly hurting those she cares about the most, she slowly has to learn how to let go.
