A crab named Chuuya is dragged to shore with the merprince Akutagawa to try and convince the kingdom on a nearby shore to help them defeat The Guild.
From there, Chuuya has to deal with having a human body, his prince falling in love with the human's prince, an OBNOXIOUS chef that won't leave him alone, land rules which are just stupid...and worst of all...Politics.
Politics that involve two stubborn kings who REFUSE to just make up already.

He was cut off as a loud thud made him jump. For a brief second, an inhuman hand pressed against the glass. It had five long, thin fingers, with thin membranes stretching between each to make it webbed.
Grace gulped.

Another rumbling song called out from the depths, sending a shiver down Wriothesley’s spine. The lights of the submersible flickered and died, the power fully cutting out.
“Power failure,” S.I.G.3.W.I.N.N.E. crackled, her voice partially obscured by static. “Stand by for emergency power supply activation.”
A shadow passed below the ship, and Wriothesley risked a glance downwards towards the depths of the canyon.
He really wished he hadn’t.
After his spacecraft crashes on an alien planet primarily made up of oceans, Wriothesley is left stranded with only an artificial intelligence module called S.I.G.3.W.I.N.N.E. to keep him company. As curiosity draws Wriothesley deeper into the waters of the ocean planet, he discovers something monstrous lurking in the depths.

Wally never expected to come back to Happy Harbor. Not after his near drowning in the sea caves by his childhood home — which inevitably led to his parents’ divorce. But here he was twelve years later, fresh out of grad -school and moving back into his late father’s old house.
A summer spent in the sleepy town he grew up in on the Rhode Island coast should have been idyllic. A quiet three months working in his uncle’s aquarium as he figured out what the hell he wanted to do with his life. But, it turns out, finding a siren tangled in a fishing net at the bottom of the bay would only be the beginning of his troubles.
What happened to the poor Nereid who now haunted Wally’s thoughts? Why couldn’t he shake the feeling that their fates were more tangled than the net he’d cut away from its beautiful tail? And who was the so-called expert called in by the counties Game-Warden to investigate the new predator making waves in the Rhode Island Sound?
The further Wally dug, the deeper the mystery took him — and someone had swim to the bottom of it.

Tall tales of false evolutions and fanciful fantasies conjured by desperate, frustrated minds in need of stimulation and copulation. Scientific fallacy, nothing worth remembering or regarding with any seriousness. Such an abomination could not exist. And yet, the old man could not deny the existence of the infant's thin, translucent fins, nor the pale glisten of flat, fish-like scales against newborn skin, gleaming under the pale moon.
On an unassuming, dreary day, a train arrives in a remote costal town carring a young, downtrodden stranger seeking to become the new town Wickie. But with the past looming large, and a better tomorrow seemingly forever just out of reach, will his fresh start prove to be more challenging than he expected? Will the weight of the past hinder the path to the future he longs to create? And what else might the light of the lamp guide to the shore?
Something I conjured up for Mermay 2026 after watching The Shape of Water and The Lighthouse back to back. Make of that what you will.

After the events of Good Things Come.Astarion and Tav have solidified their roles in the Underdark with the other Spawn, as well as in Faerun. They realize there is still much more they can do to stop another Vampire lord, and help another of their Companions in the process.

Except Tav beat Astarion there and reached him first, and a wet SMACK sounded as Astarion's chest collided with her shoulder blades where she stood solidly between them.
For a moment, Astarion only saw red.
For a moment, Astarion heard nothing but the roaring, rushing sounds in his adept ears - that of the rolling sea, and Tav's blood catapulting through her arteries with her own anger.
Astarion's eyes focused and traced her form and up her extended arm, his lip twitching with the beginning of a snarl at the action that had been denied him, but the scent of Gale's blood hit his nose then. The odor was strong despite the pervading smell of salt in the surf that lapped along the shore at their feet.
