Summary
Steve is struck by the posture.
Bucky sprawled on the couch, each and every time, curling into its soft embrace like a lazy cat, snuggling up to Steve whenever he could, rarely letting his feet even touch the ground. James’s spine is ramrod straight, a good few inches away from the back of the couch, and there’s tension thrumming in every line of his body, the sight so familiar that Steve would never have taken notice of it if not for Bucky.
It almost sends him to his knees, this concrete reality.
James looks up.
The eyes are the same, but the face they’re set in is older, harder, deep slashes carved into its handsome lines. Bucky looked like a boy who’d grow into a man with laugh lines, but when James’s brow furrows, it’s with a frown that threatens at every moment to morph into a scowl. He doesn’t look older than thirty, he never will, but he wears every one of his hundred years in his too-old eyes.
“James,” Steve chokes out.
It’s a greeting, but it’s also grief.
“Steve,” James returns evenly. “Good morning.”

The redhead currently pinning Steve to the couch said, "Really?"
"Alright, her good friend Bucky. My tolerated friend Bucky."
"My phone's on the table," Steve ground out. "Grab it, have a look at the last picture."
The guy grabbed it, and his obvious double-take would have been funny if Steve wasn't being crushed into his couch. He held it out and the redhead peered at it. "It could be fake."
"That's right," Steve said, digging down for all the sarcasm that existed in his skinny body. "I scribbled all over my own thighs and took a photo so I could lure a pair of hostile weirdos to my apartment. That's how I enjoy spending my time."
"You know what this means, right?" the guy said, sounding deeply bemused. "Bucky has a soulmate."

“Alien…aphrodisiac.” James blinks and takes a few deep breaths, absorbing the information to scratch his head over later. Steve’s the priority now. “At least tell me he didn’t leap into the path of the alien whatever.”
The Widow laughs. It’s half for show, James knows, but he thinks he can see genuine amusement in her cool green eyes. Steve’s better at reading her, but Steve’s apparently busy rubbing one out in the bathroom.
“Not this time,” she says. “It’s not a weapon. One of the scientists grabbed the first thing they could in a panic. Steve was the only one in the room with them and got a faceful of blue dust. The effects took a couple of hours to show.”
“And the scientist who used it?”
“Was trying to fuck a wall, last I saw.”
James grimaces.
“It’s not very dignified,” the Widow adds, noting his expression. “Like I said, either the serum’s handling the worst of it or Steve’s real superpower is his moral compass.”

Summary

Bucky can't leave him behind, but he's nothing like what Bucky's looking for and everything Bucky doesn't want.
But Bucky's more right than even he knows because Steve's not a horse at all. He's a man under a curse, victim of a powerful sorcerer's temper and magic, and he's bound to never, by action or deed, reveal what he truly is.

Summary
Bucky had been careful, after all, leaving no trace of his comings and goings. It was horrendously disappointing to know that Rogers had found him. Bucky was a lot better than getting caught by a guy who wore the American flag as a onesie. He just really was.
“Don’t you – Bucky – Bucky,” Rogers started, and to Bucky’s growing horror, it looked like Rogers was on the verge of some type of emotional eclipse. Anger, sadness, something, and Bucky wanted nothing to do with it.
“Hate to break it to you, bud, but I don’t remember ever living here and I don’t remember you.”

Lip curling, Steve met his pale eyes, hating that he’d ever found them attractive. “You don’t know shit about me, dick head. So why don’t you go fuck yourself with that enormous shitbag personality of yours?”
The asshole just huffed, flexing his arm, clearly trying to intimidate. “Your work ethic says plenty, but hey, I’m not the one paying you, though don’t think I won’t be sharing what a fucking great fella you are—sleeping on the job and backtalking to the people you’re supposed to be working for.”

Summary
Bucky is supportive of Steve trying to enlist in the war but even a best friend has their limits. What if Steve’s relentless pursuit to be a soldier pushes them apart? A fight before Bucky ships out dissolves the friendship they once had, and they soon stop talking at all. By the time Captain America gets to Europe, there’s no hint of the friendship they once had, and when Steve invites Bucky to join the Howling Commandos, it’s a big “no” from him. Bucky Barnes is not the man or the boy that Steve remembers but he is, at least, more of a man still than his companions. There’s a chance, then, and Steve hangs onto it with white knuckles and burning fingertips.
‘Bucky!’ He tries again, just managing to choke the syllables out as the arm tightens its grip on his shoulder. The pain is blistering, his bones creaking beneath the grip and Steve is sure they can’t take much more. ‘Buck! It’s me! It’s Steve. Don’t you remember?’
Bucky halts in his advance. The metal fingers flex on Steve’s shoulder, not quite letting go but not tightening either, for the first time.
‘Steve?’ The word comes out muffled from behind the mask, as if Bucky is tasting it for the first time.

Summary
After serving his time in Special Ops, Bucky moves to a two-horse town, deep in the mountains. He buys an old log cabin in a large clearing surrounded by acres of tall, thick trees and dark woods- the only place for miles up there.
As he acquaints himself with the locals, he learns about the small town’s weird obsession with wolves and all the supernatural rumors, specifically around the area of his cabin.
Bucky thinks them all a little off-kilter until peculiar occurrences around his new home piques his interest enough to find out more.
And that’s when he learns that apparently werewolves are a very real thing.
Pity that Bucky doesn’t share the town’s caution when it comes to the woods and his cabin.
This ‘werewolf’ devoured his pizza and left the crust, how scary can he really be?
