    Summary

In the summer of ’69, a flash flood delivers Dottie, a restless young student of botany and her friends into the hands of an isolated Appalachian flock, ruled by scripture and tradition. Among them waits Solomon, the healer, who sees in Dottie as a sign. A lamb sent by Providence. And once he lays claim, no prayer, plea, or protest will part what he believes God has joined.

You shall submit, as it is commanded," he growled near her ear, his breath hot and close. "You fight, but it is written. A woman shall obey her husband in all things."

"You aren't my husband" she gasped, twisting violently, her hands clawing at his shoulders.

His fingers dug deeper into her side, forcing her still. "Yet" he hissed, his mouth so close to her temple she could feel the word burn into her skin.

    Summary

In a future of surveillance and systematic control a student’s quiet life unravels when she saves a wounded soldier in the woods and protects herself with a single lie. That moment sparks an obsession she doesn’t see coming as the cold, calculating commander slowly becomes fixated on the girl.

As his watch tightens around her, she builds a fragile shield of half-truths to protect her family and hide her ties to the resistance. But each lie cuts deeper and she must soon decide how far she can bend the truth before they become the bars of her own cage.

She cut hard into a narrow passage, shoulder grazing chipped brick, the scrape leaving a chalky smear on her sleeve. The air was stale here, smelling of damp mortar and the sour tang of rain trapped in stone.

A thin blade of streetlight knifed through the end of the lane, pale gold against the black, and she fixed on it. Her pulse drove hard enough to thrum in her teeth, rattling through her skull with each step.

Then the sound split the night.

A Highmarch car came in sideways, metal shrieking as its tires tore across the cobbles. It slid into place with brutal control, cutting the passage at the throat like a final punctuation mark.

    Summary

Chloe is eighteen, naive, and broke. Big green eyes. A rack she can't fit in any blouse she owns. A fat pillow of an ass she keeps trying to cover up and can't. Fresh out of Ohio, no friends, no savings, a landlord counting days.

Alexander Williams is rich, patient, and has done this before. He sees everything he needs in the first ten seconds of the interview.

Will the dumb little country hick manage to prove herself capable of the role she's been given? Or will her boss be generous enough to find her something better suited to her natural gifts?

He's not in a hurry. She's got nowhere else to go.

    Summary

Lady Rowena is sent to marry Lord Aldric of Blackmare, a man who trains warhorses to bow and charge at command. Unease drives her to spy on him in the stables, fearing what sort of husband she has been given. Yet, what she sees is not cruelty, but a man who moves with quiet authority and a gentleness. After the vows, their marriage begins in unexpected warmth. Deep affection grows, but a moment of doubt fractures the trust he had built with such care and what follows is ruin. Rowena now wants to escape, but Aldric, consumed by guilt, desire and something far harder to name will not let her go.

She dared a glance toward the stairwell. Empty, but the sound was closer now, the faint scrape of leather against stone.

"A poor choice of ground, little fox" Aldric's voice carried down the passage, low and unhurried. "There are few corners here I do not know."

She pressed herself flatter against the wall, willing the shadows to keep her. From the angle of the arch she could see the faint spill of lamplight growing along the floor, the way it shivered with each step he took.

Orphaned young and raised under her grandmother’s rigid watch, Pearl Rosalie Montgomery has always lived quietly—too carefully, too small. College is supposed to be her escape, a chance to finally breathe. But when she catches the attention of Dr. Samuel James Richardson—brilliant, magnetic, and disturbingly perceptive—her world begins to shift in ways she can’t explain.
