A series of vignettes detailing Yi's recovery in Peach Blossom Village and the development of his and Shuanshuan's fraternal bond, all of it undercut by Yi slowly coming to terms with the fact he's directly responsible for everything the kid he's grown to love has lost.
In other words: cat man gets taken care of by child and then proceeds to have a mental breakdown when he realises he practiced eugenics

Half a millennium after his murder, Yi opens his eyes to find himself in Peach Blossom Village. Seriously injured and surrounded by aliens, he must find the strength to heal and the patience to plot his escape. Luckily, he has some help. The child Shuanshuan takes it upon himself to nurse Yi back to health, and they become the only family either of them has left.
The story of what happened in the two years Yi lived in Peach Blossom Village.

There’s something white resting in his palm. It looks like a piece of a paper. Was that what had been giving him so much grief? How did it get in his throat? After a moment of pondering, Yi pushes the question out of his mind; it doesn’t matter, now that it’s out. He’s fine, he’s not sick at all.
And that’s what he tells himself, even if every breath still feels oddly weighted and heavy.
