Summary
Hope Shaffer is a young transgender omega from a wealthy pack family, waiting for her Prince Charming. Elizabeth Hawkins is an alpha who appears to be everything Hope should want. Their packs arrange for the two to be mated as part of a larger business agreement, and Hope tries to make the most of it. Elizabeth, however, is not the sweet, safe protector that Hope has been trained from designation to assume her bonded alpha will be. Actually, she seems to be a sadistic maniac, and Hope is going to learn very quickly how little power she actually has as Elizabeth crosses every boundary imaginable and Hope’s body and societal conditioning betray her at every step.
Do not expect a happy ending, nor for the good to be found within this nightmare. This is a story about abuse, both personal and systemic, and a dark kink fantasy reclaiming many of the worst experiences of its authors.

Six ships belonging to the Affini Compact have been disabled in the last two months; each progressively larger than the last, beginning with simple shuttles and - most recently - escalating to a research vessel with a crew of 5,000. Each ship disabled has suffered zero casualties, yet these attacks still mark the largest series of defeats in the Compact's time within the Milky Way. Even more confusingly, the force responsible consists of just a single ship; a vessel by the name of the Rending Talon, captained by an enigmatic individual referring to themselves as Raqi Marr the Simurgh. Presumed to be a Terran in spite of the peacock feathers growing out of her head, one question rises above all others in the minds of the affini who have witnessed these attacks: why is the weapon that disabled their ship one of Affini make?
