His very blatant simping has nothing to do with the fact that Chuuya’s scream is his favourite sound in the world; nothing to do with the way his heart stutters when he hears "Shuuji-san", and absolutely nothing to do with the playlist of clipped moments he has saved for “research.”

“Won’t you look at that?” Dazai’s voice was like honeyed whiskey. A bourbon soaked in the glow of a bee’s hive, catching the organic drips just underneath.
Chuuya took a glance at the queen bee, peering not at him, but ahead. A toppled over tub of vaseline leaked onto the desk, and in it was a fly. The little insect was stuck in the oil spill, lifting one small leg at a time, its wings flapping helplessly as it tried to escape the trap it had put itself in. Slowly, his wings made up for what his legs lacked, and he was in the air again.
“This is the third time today,” Dazai mused, staring upwards at the retreating fly. “He keeps getting out, but coming right back. Do you think he’s coming to me, or is he just this stupid?”
“Why would he come back to you?”
Dazai’s dark eye flicked to him. He seemed to smile.
“At this rate, he’ll give it another go.” Dazai ignored him, leaning on his hand and staring up at the fly, who circled them once more. He seemed hopeful. “He always does.”
Chuuya gazed with him. Above the two, the fly circled their heads as if he were debating the query himself.Fed up with the port mafia’s flimsy definition of loyalty, Chuuya decides to take a chance at a different path.
