He glances away from Shadow Milk Cookie’s sweeping gaze, choosing to look the side instead as peering into Shadow Milk’s mismatched eyes for so long was getting to be too much.
”Yes…”
He glances back at him for a moment, his dully colored eyes glinting with a hint of sincerity.

Refusal is not really on the table, but emotional growth apparently is. What follows is a structured reformation program involving accountability, reluctant introspection, and far too much proximity between a supposed villain and the impossibly radiant figure trying to “fix” him—somehow leading to the worst possible outcome for everyone involved: attachment.

Pure Vanilla grunts, momentarily wobbling before he pushes himself to his feet with the assistance of his staff. “I… No, yes, I gathered that you were mocking me—“

That was how simpletons like his fellow Peak Lords rationalized it.
Shen Qingqiu thought that perhaps Zhao Qinglin was just a lay about. Kan Zhanbu was the tiniest of the twelve Peaks. The last that Shen Qingqiu had heard, the Peak only boasted one Elder, two Masters, and five Disciples- none of this counting Zhao Qinglin himself. Unless he spent all day gazing into the sun, he had more than enough time to pick up a brush and do his job.
