This was the low point of his time at UA. It would get better from here. Nobody would ever have to know. He could survive the waves, he could tread water. He just needed to make it a bit longer and things would get better. They had to. He could get a handle on his school work, his work study responsibilities, and his quirk. He had the ability to, he had the potential. He just needed to do it. If he could do that, he might be able to enjoy things again. He could get through this brief rough patch.
Three weeks later he was back in the basement, staring at the black fuse box.

I was ten the first time I ever saw Haymitch Abernathy.
People say that ten is a young age, and objectively it is, but in retrospection, when your life only totals sixteen years, it isn't that young at all.
Back then, he was just one of Burdock's friends. Burdock was my distant cousin, and he lived in the Seam; the miner's area of District Twelve.
Haymitch was the same. I knew this before being told, purely because of how he looked. Olive skin, grey eyes. However, what stood out to me about him was his hair. It was blonde, and curly, and the look of wonder on his face it accompanied instantly caught my eye.
