And Ozzy was sitting on the floor, nosing a limp, dark lump on the couch. A dark lump lying on his stomach with black quills, red highlights, and charred metal shoes. Shadow shifted, turning his head just enough to stare Tom in the face with a piercingly red eye.
Tom was frozen. He couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t move. Couldn’t look away.
Then Shadow shifted again, tucking his face down into the couch cushion.----

He doesn't usually sleep. Every time he closes his eyes, his mind is cruel, reminding him of all the things he lost, the person he will never see again. The person he couldn't save.
So, he settles for sitting on the couch, reading, and waiting until the sun replaces the moon. Shadow doesn't sleep.
But today he woke up from a nap he didn't even know he was having.

3) apparently, despite everything, Sonic thinks just some friends letting him crash in the attic
