Arthur smiles, the pride of a plan working out. “We have a job, and a place by the beach.”

Later, when they’re safely tucked away in a house in the wet countryside of the Netherlands, Arthur is laughing.“Admit it. You’re more upset it was such a bad forge.”
Eames huffs, aggrieved. “It was disgraceful!”
“It was pretty bad.”
“Less than a minute, it took you to figure out. Shameful.”
“The question was too obvious,” Arthur adds. He’s sharpening his knife. Eames is watching him sharpen his knife, because it’s a hobby in and of itself.
“How’d you tell? Besides that.”
Arthur turns to look at him, hands still moving. “He’d forgotten your cologne.”
Eames feels the surprise register on his face, and Arthur stops, sits up from where he was leaning over the table. “You always have it on, even in the dreams. I guess you must think of yourself as wearing the scent.”
Eames lifts his eyebrows, stares back at Arthur. That wasn’t at all what he’d been expecting.
“That’s it? His scent?”
Arthur rolls his eyes now, getting up from the table to come towards Eames. “His accent,” he lists off, “The patch under your jaw that you always miss when shaving, the pet name, your shoes were tied the wrong way, and your shoulder tattoo was missing. Satisfied?”
Eames pulls Arthur in from where he’d been leaning against the table. “Exceedingly,” he says, leaning up. Arthur takes the hint, bends down and kisses him.
“Tell me, was this one of your plans?” Eames asks, when Arthur pulls away, perched on his knee.
Arthur shrugs. “In a way.”
Eames beams at him. “Specificity,” he mouths, just to tease.
Arthur digs an elbow in to Eames’s ribs, soothes it by settling more firmly against him. “Do you think anyone could pull off a forge good enough, someday?”
Eames considered the question for a moment. “They’d have to spend a good amount of time with us.”
Arthur laughs, tilts his head back. “So Dom, and Ariadne.”
“Not Yusuf?”
Arthur lifts an eyebrow, looks down at him. “Do you think he could pull it off?”
“Fair play,” Eames concedes, tilting his head in acknowledgment. “It’s possible someone might try again,” he adds, tucking a hand behind Arthur’s neck. “Maybe we should re-familiarize? Just to be ready, of course.”
Arthur actually laughs, tips his head back. “You’re the worst influence,” he says, but his hands are in Eames’s hair and he’s smiling, bright. It moves Eames’s world, every time.
Eames smiles, shrugs a shoulder. “You know me, love. Always trying to be prepared.”
Arthur laughs again, tugs him up. Eames lets himself be led, hand in Arthur’s.

Après avoir totalement foiré sa dernière mission, Eames était prêt à mettre de côté son amour pour Arthur aussi bien que son métier de faussaire. Il est néanmoins évident qu'il ne peut jamais manquer une occasion de revoir Arthur, c'est donc sans surprise qu'il rajoute son nom à la mission lorsque Dom et Mal acceptent de rendre un service à Miles.
Au moment où le faussaire et l'organisateur réalisent qu'ils pourraient enfin être ensemble, il est peut-être déjà trop tard, alors qu'une simple extraction dans le rêve d'un vieil homme tourne au cauchemar.

Summary
She doesn’t quite remember how she got here. There is a storm outside, that much she knows. It's wild and raging violently enough that it has knocked out the power lines. The mansion she has taken shelter in is a mess of dimly lit candles and withering shadows. It feels so empty, like no one has lived in it for years despite its up kept condition and lack of dust. It puts her on edge, as does its host.
Though he is not as off putting as her hazy memory.
