Something was up with Matt. He was distant, but not at the same time. Things had changed, they’d changed, from college to Landman and Zack, to trying it out on their own. To having their own space, their own offices, their own apartments, their own clients.
It was only natural, only normal that they’d feel different. A fact of life, that people changed, and grew and developed. The roommate he’d met those many years ago and the man he shared an office with now, were the same and yet different. Holding onto things they didn’t need to, hiding things that didn’t need to be hidden.
Matt tells Foggy. He was never expecting to be called a liar for it.

It made a change, to be in such a position that they could afford to close up the shop for a few weeks, and actually enjoy their Christmas. One of Foggy’s cousins some ways removed had a cabin, where they were promised it would snow, and a local village where there were always bound to be activities and festivities.
“Oh Matt. It’s gorgeous.” It had steadily been getting colder and colder, the first few wisps of snow starting to fall and stick to the windshield, drifts piled up on the side of the freshly ploughed road. As they got closer and closer to the village, it began to look like a true winter wonderland, the sort of place you’d only ever see in films. “The snow is truly settling now, looks like it’s been snowing here for a little while, but no one has really walked on the fresh stuff yet. The houses here look old, but traditional. None of those modern flatpacks, it’s all brickwork and nice wooden beams, all well looked after.” The road beneath their wheels turned into something more resembling cobblestone than the smooth tarmac they’d been on for hours. “Very traditional. Ooh! There’s an ice rink on the river, have you ever been skating?”Series

Foggy couldn’t help but take a few pictures of Matt, somehow managing to capture the first time he attempted, and succeeded, a small jump, a grin splitting across his face as he landed.
“Yes!” Faint clapping let them know the attendant was watching them, and even from here, Foggy could see Matt’s cheeks blush red with embarrassment, or pride. He didn’t let it deter him though, continuing his dance across the ice, weaving his skates in a pattern Foggy couldn’t quite decipher. He ducked beneath some of the low hanging branches at the far edge of the river, then speeding back towards Foggy.- This is a direct continuation of A Cabin Under Starlit Sky
