Losing Damian not only hurt beyond measure but also made Dick the last Bat standing. He had nothing keeping him in a broken world so goes back in time with only one ally (Damian begs to differ) and no plan except to protect everyone he can, at any cost.
Dick starts with making sure Jason never dies at the hands of the Joker and proceeds to track down and love his siblings (while maybe also plotting the destruction of the League of Assassins). He just doesn't realize that a clan of highly trained vigilantes are more than capable of realizing that Dick is not okay, and of returning his devotion with their own.

Summary
They’re halfway through the quarter, October’s end is rapidly approaching, and it’s easier than Buck expected to get people in the department to think they don’t like each other. Most of the time they just don’t talk or look at each other. Other times they bicker over the littlest things, Eddie usually defaults to saying he doesn’t care for birds, and Buck finds one of Eddie’s favorite theorists to shit talk. It’s fun, there’s a thrill in the debrief on the way home after Buck picks Eddie up a little ways away from the department, and he loves watching the looks other faculty give them in meetings like they’re on the edge of their seats waiting for something to happen.
(or: 5 times Buck and Eddie convinced everyone they're academic rivals +1 time everyone found out they were married)

Summary
“So… you’ve been talking about Buck in therapy?”
Eddie wipes his hand across his face and groans. “I’ve been talking about everything in therapy. Christopher, Shannon, my parents, my childhood, my time in the army, my job. Not to even mention all the other greatest hits, like the several times I’ve almost died, the time Christopher could’ve died in the tsunami, the time Buck almost died right in front of me, Buck—just, generally, Buck and Tommy—”
“You talked about Buck and Tommy in therapy?” Karen’s eyes shoot wide open when she interrupts, and Eddie lets out an even more long-suffering sigh. He definitely did not mean to say that one out loud.
or; Eddie begins the slow process of putting his life back together. He doesn't have to spend a moment of it alone.

A conversation about tardigrades results in buck grappling with a disability he's suppressed, getting hearing aids, and realizing that the family he craves has been there for him all along. in that order.
