Summary
He doesn’t know what to say, and the silence grows fast between them as Eddie searches for something to say back that’s proportional to what Buck said.
I’d wheel you around too, Buck. I’d make you the first cup of coffee in the morning, just the way you like it. I’d give you my last spare pair of clean socks and my child and the morning newspaper. I’ll pull out Chimney’s chair right before he goes to sit at lunch tomorrow to make you laugh. I’ll buy you milk for breakfast every time you mention we’re out of it. I’d bring you the moon and get down on one knee and plead in a universe I didn’t used to believe in to let us be together.
But he misses his chance, and Buck carries on. “I’d wheel you around like a little old man.” Before Eddie can raise back an argument, Buck powers through. “I’d carry you, like Chris when he’s sleepy. Two Diaz’s, one for each arm.” Eddie can practically taste the smile in Buck’s mouth, and it makes him dizzy. “I’ll bring gummy bears tomorrow, and milk. You need anything else?”
“Nothing, Buck. Just you.”
***
Eddie just wants to be in Buck's arms, any way he can. It's a disaster.

Physically, Buck was ready to accept a baby into his home. Mentally? He wasn’t sure. He knew he wanted this, wanted her. He had always wanted a baby, a family, but now it was actually happening, the legal documents signed, sealed, delivered, he worried that he wasn’t up to it.
Panic raised as a lump in his throat, but as if he could read his thoughts, Eddie placed a hand on his leg. “This is good Buck, it's great!” it was such a simple sentence, but Eddie’s sureness was enough to dampen the panic, their eyes met and Buck grinned at him in response.
“You think so?” he couldn’t help but ask.
“You found her, isn’t that like a sign from the universe?” Eddie knocked their knees together.
“You don’t believe in signs from the universe.” Buck shot back.
“You do,” Eddie said softly, his gaze unwavering, “and I believe in you.”
Or
Buck finds a baby, Eddie finds himself.

Summary
“Looking back on everything, it really shouldn’t have taken Eddie that long to realize he was in love with his best friend. They’d been stumbling toward each other in the dark for as long as he could remember, and then one day it was like someone had finally turned on the lights so he could see who he was really reaching for all this time.”
(A 7b canon-divergence in which Eddie heals from old wounds and Buck finds the something he’s been looking for, and these two things are absolutely connected)
