The One Who Started the Change
Mike turned the engine off and stared at the building. The pizzeria had gone out of business…or that’s what he had believed until he saw the newspaper advert looking for a night guard. Now that he was sitting in the rundown car park which had been neglected for so long, he was now debating if he really wanted this job. He signed up for the job and had been accepted, might as well leave the safety of his car and enter the building. How hard could this job be?
Unlocking the door, Mike gently tugged at the door and found that it swung both ways. It wasn’t locked to only being pushed open or pulled open from the outside. Handy to know. Stepping inside the building, he couldn’t help but look around the unlit environment he would be watching. When he had come during the day, everything seemed more bright and cheerful, now the atmosphere felt void of everything. The light of life had gone and now despair had filled the empty gap left behind.
“Pleasant…” he muttered as he flicked his torch on and used it to make his way towards the office. In his pocket was a small map of the building to help him navigate the first few nights until the layout of the building had been memorised. He made sure to arrive early so he had enough time to have a mini tour by himself and to settle in the office before his shift officially started.
Stepping into the dining area, a shiver shot up his spine. Looking around, his torch landed on the three animatronics on stage. The animatronic on the left was a large purple rabbit with a guitar clamped in his hands. Bonnie, if Mike remembered correctly, was the guitarist for the band, backing both Freddy and Chica with his music while he performed with the other two. Bonnie had been a favourite for many who enjoyed rabbits. Mike was also sure that Bonnie had inspired younger children to try a guitar in their future. He didn’t know nor did he really want to think about how successful musicians were with how much they earnt.
Moving onto the next animatronic. The light shined on Freddy Fazbear. The face of the company with a few other variations of the character, much like Bonnie. Freddy was the lead vocalist of the band, and his head was often used when advertising their products. Children adored Freddy, children said that Freddy helped keep the nightmares away when they obtained a Freddy plush either from a birthday party or by purchasing the plushie with tickets. With a microphone in hand, Freddy already looked ready to perform the next song.
The last animatronic on stage was Chica. The chicken stood on Freddy’s left and backed him up in vocals. In her hand, wing…whatever, she had a cupcake on a plate that seemed to be watching him? No, the animatronic cupcake was probably just a prop. From the manager, Chica was a glutton for pizza, always trying to get into the kitchen but had always been stopped by the other staff members. Why they programmed Chica to be a glutton was beyond Mike’s understanding. For all they knew, Chica just wanted to get some more pizza for the children.
Leaving the dining area, he made his way towards Pirate Cove, where Foxy was stationed. Finding the lone stage, Mike shone the torch on the purple curtain which was decorated by silver stars. A small sign was in front of the curtain saying that it was out of order. Mike gently moved the curtain to get a look at Foxy. The animatronic was the most worn down out of the four of them with the endoskeleton peeking out from behind the damaged suit. Seeing Foxy in this state was upsetting, especially since Foxy was a once loved animatronic along with the rest of them.
Glancing down at his watch, he noticed that he had fifteen minutes to get himself to the office and settled down for the shift. Moving away from Pirate Cove, Mike shone the torch ahead of him as he walked towards the office, glancing at the decorations and remains of the establishment before reaching the office.
Reaching the office, Mike gave it a quick glance around. He spotted the security chair on wheels, which meant that it spins which his inner child screamed in joy about. In front of the chair was a black desk with a fan sitting directly in front of him. To the left of the fan was the monitor system that Mike had been informed about during the day. That was where he’d find the tablet, which was connected to the camera system, with the touch screen he would be able to flick between the cameras with ease. Keeping track of this place was going to be a breeze. There was a few bits of rubbish but Mike swiftly moved all the rubbish into a pile, ready to throw away once he could. He found a phone under the rubbish. On the right of the fan were more monitors, but they didn’t work. On top of the monitors was a small cupcake, very similar to the one that Chica held while on stage.
The wall was covered in children’s drawings along with a large celebrate poster which features the three animatronics on stage. Poor Foxy. Not in a child’s drawing on the wall, how long had Foxy been out of commission?
Below the desk Mike saw a huge speaker on the right and draws on the left.
Looking behind the chair, he saw lockets that stood tall. None of them were locked, allowing Mike to have a little peek inside. Most of the lockers contained spare uniforms of a variety of sizes. At least the security outfit was gender neutral rather than having gender specifics. Mike spotted a few security badges tucked on one of the shelfs. He reached up and picked one up to examine it. Who allowed a security guard to have a solid gold badge? Putting it back, Mike closed the lockers.
Ring…ring…ring…ring…
The shift had just begun.
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Golden Freddy watched the new guard. He wasn’t really expecting much to come from the guard. Just security lamb for the slaughter. He listened to the recording but didn’t really pay much attention to the recorded message. A new guard meant the same set of recordings played and when you had been here as long as Golden Freddy had, you could recite the entire recording perfectly. With nothing better to do, Golden Freddy waited for this new security lamb to get freaked by the animatronics when they started to move, when they started their game and approach the office. The first night was never usually bad. Maybe Bonnie arrived at the door once before leaving but not after giving the guard a scare.
The security guard was flicking through the cameras while watching their power level. Many others had done that before; this was nothing new. The animatronics got a few scares from the night guard before the shift ended. Golden Freddy didn’t have high hopes for this guard. Once the animatronics grew frustrated that they hadn’t been able to kill the guard, they stepped up their game. Getting more and more aggressive until they had either driven the guard away or killed them and claimed their victory of stuffing the guard in a suit.
Golden Freddy felt generous, he gave the guard a week before they either lost the game with the animatronics or left as this place got to them.
Golden Freddy had never been so wrong.
