More pops, more screams that cut off only seconds later, Jamie curls up tighter. Pressing his hands to his ears. Trying to make himself smaller, as small as he can, eyes wide he thinks he stops breathing when boots step into view. Between him and Pippa and Claude. They stare at each other with wide teary eyes, hands pressed over their mouths, chests heaving without a sound. There’s a shift in the person, another pop, louder than any of the others, it makes their ears ring for an eternity after.
