Chapter Text
Hal Jordan’s turn to Parallax didn’t happen like in the comics
In the comics he went bonkers after his home city was destroyed and killed most of the Green Lantern Corps. However, they later retconned that it was Parallax the Fear deity, the Entity of the Yellow Power Battery, possessing him that did this.
That was a mess and a half, but that could have handled better.
First, Hal’s hometown isn’t destroyed by Mogul. Mogul caused a lot of damage sure but Hal was able to save Coast City.
Second, we know from the start it is a deity possessing him. He doesn’t turn mad and it is later retconned, we know from the start something is not right with Hal.
A possessed Hal does damage to the Green Lantern Corps but he is fighting form the inside out to slow Parallax down, doing as much as he can so that his fellow Lanterns can escape.
The Lanterns closest to Hal (John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Saint Walker, Razer, Aya, Kilowog and a few I may forget) and such would gather to try and restrain the possessed Hal.
Finally, Carol Ferris, whom had been acting as Star Sapphire for a while, is motivated to get her Star Sapphire alter ego under control and hence also in full control of her Lantern powers. She uses it to help create an opening so she can reach Hal, reach out to him using her powers of Love for Hal (that is not hyperbole, Star Sapphires are fueled by love after all) and give the final push to get Parallax out.
