Epilogue

July 31st 1986

Remus was one of the biggest changes in this timeline. Knowing that he could fall in love and have a son without fear of hurting them had been life changing and he finally asked Mary out. He fancied her for years but always thought she deserved better. Nyx had smacked him when he’d confessed as much one night and now they were celebrating their second wedding anniversary in 2 months. Their daughter Sophia was just learning to walk and carefully toddled through the kids, each careful of their smallest cousin. 

Sirius had taken 4 months to crack. Much MUCH longer than Reg had but once he did it was nuclear. Like Remus, he’d been convinced she could do better and it had also taken a good smack from Nyx before his head finally came out of his ass and he’d all but glued himself to her. The rest of the group was deeply thankful they’d graduated as the pair were not seen for a solid 2 weeks. Within a year Marlene and Sirius had twins, a son named Canis and a daughter named Elara. 

Lily and James had not only Holly but also a son they'd named Harry as a (what James considered a hilarious) ode to Nyx. 

Nyx and Reg were married one year after their graduation at Black Castle, they'd compromised with Artucus and the Potters to have the ceremony there but held the reception at Potter Manor. 

With permission, they gutted Number 12 Grimmauld Place, removing every bad memory and trace of Walburga before transforming it into a place they would happily raise their kids as Lord and Lady Black. Orion had moved into Black Castle with his father and Sirius had finally agreed to take a Black property with a decent sized house and a few hundred acres. The boys had warded the woods to the moon and back for their monthly excursions with Moony. Mar and the twins spent the night with Mary those nights solely to make Remus feel safer. 

Dorcas had finally finally won over Snape, now Lord Prince. He still became the youngest Potions Master but Nyx now knew the man was capable of smiling, though still only did at Dorcas or their son Ambrose but it was leaps and bounds of improvement from Nyx’s time. 

Barty and Evan’s wedding had been a 2 day party; none of them would have survived without Prince’s improved hangover potion. They blood adopted a 6 year old daughter named Charlotte after she'd been taken from a home far too similar to Barty’s Prince’s and Nyx’s. After a few months of careful learning and mind healing, the little family had become completely glued together. 

Nyx made sure the moment little Draco was born that she would be a part of her now cousin's life, as Lady Black, even Lucius was unable to deny her. The boy was 1000% times softer than the one she'd met in Madam Malkins and Nyx refused to let him be hardened by his father’s trauma.

Nyx was on cloud nine as she watched her little sister Holly play with Neville and Draco. They were celebrating both Holly’s and Nyx’s birthdays together, Regulus was teaching their now 4 year old son Phoenix to catch his toy snitch while the older kids played a slower version of quidditch around them. 

Nyx sat beside her mum and the girls talking idly, this. This was the life she'd dreamed of her entire life. Little Holly would never know the shadows of a dark twit, never be the ‘chosen one’ shoved to the front of a war, never be expected to sacrifice herself. 

Grandma Mia called them for cake, sitting beside her, Holly turned to ask Nyx while they lit the candles “when you were my age what would you wish for?”

“You tiny, you're everything I ever wanted.”
