Chapter Text

Logan expelled a shuddered breath into the once sterile room. Head tilted down, the man peeked through furrowed eyebrows as the breath crystalized into condensation, dispersing into the air around him. God It was so cold. Cold and the only source light emitting from an overhead vent just outside the glass.

He tucked onto himself, moving back to the corner of the room. There wasn’t much in here. Nothing but water from a faucet he dared not drink from, and an embarrassing excuse of a bed, which was just a few square feet of padding on the floor. In front of him was a piece of near indestructible glass (trust me, he tried) that made him feel like he was being displayed to a mockingly nonexistent audience.

Tubes and wires latched onto every few inches of his skin, pumping various hormones and chemicals into his blood, tracking each and every beat of his heart. He hadn’t been there too terribly long in retrospect, a solid 3 days, but jesus christ, it felt like so, so much longer.

The drugs they’d tranq’d him with made his memory foggy and blotchy, so there he sat, angry, confused, with the slightest twinge of afraid.

He didn’t know exactly what chemicals were getting shot into him, in fact, he couldnt remember the after effects of any of them, either. Guess that means it wasn’t..too bad..?

Honestly, at this point, he was just clinging to any sorta rationale that would bring him solace, even if the odds outweighed his claims.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like he went down without a fight, thats absolutely not the case!! However, those strange masked soldiers eventually had to knock him out and shove him inside of the glorified display case he currently resided in. He already ripped out a good amount of the cords and tubes, only to be met with a dizzying surge of norepinephrine. Honestly, he still hadn’t fully recovered, muscles still spasming with the occasional reminder of the horrible, bitter feeling.

Not wanting to tempt them again, he obliged, and remained and obedient. Of course, Wade should be here any minute now—! Jesus, he’d never been more desperate for that big-mouthed freak to come find him. Yeah. It can’t be much longer. Originally, his plan was to act like he was on board with whatever they wanted. He could take it, nothing he hadn’t dealt with before. He just had to be good until Wade got there.

However, he’d severely underestimated just how strong those chemicals were. Upon obeying the soldiers commands, he’d get a dose of dopamine shot straight into his brain, something he never expected.

After getting that first little taste after a day of nothing but bitter chemicals was absolute bliss. Sucha positive spike in his heartbeat, feeling a sort of satisfaction he hadn’t felt in years. But of course, the feeling wouldn’t last forever, and he’d find himself accidentally pacing for new demands. He wanted to feel it again and again and again…..

But for now, he remained sat in his corner with a newly formed migraine. He couldn’t tell what the source of it was. Maybe the chemicals steadily flowing in and out of his system, maybe withdrawal from alcohol.. Maybe a mix of both.

He pulled his knees to his chest, burying his face into his legs, falling asleep soon enough. Hurry up, Wade.
