Chapter Text

The sun filtered through the curtains of the small, but cozy, room filled with plain and inexpensive decor, save for the few colorful plushies of cartoon and videogame characters like Kirby spread throughout the room, some of which sat on the old bed in the center of the room. The sun light slowly filled the room until it came to the foot of the bed of a young girl. She had short brown hair that came down to just above her shoulders and round cheeks that always seemed to have a rosy tinge of pink on them.

There was a knock on the bedroom door that caused the girl to stir and slowly awaken from her pleasant dreams of colorful stars twinkling in the night sky.

"Ochako! Honey you need to get up soon! you have two hours until you have to to be there. Remember you're taking your entrance exam today." The older woman's words seemed to fully awaken the girl named ochako as she sprang up from bed and immediately started to gather the clothes from her old dresser that she had prepared ahead of time the night before. She flung the door to her room open and ran past her mother before rushing into the bathroom and closing the door behind her. Her mother only sighed as she watched her daughter close the door behind her.

Ochako immediately got to work as she undressed herself and turned on the shower to a comfortable warmth before taking a short shower. After she was done she quickly brushed her teeth and put on her clothes as fast as she could. She did not want to be late for the exam no matter what.

She opened the bathroom door and hurried to the kitchen where her father and mother were waiting for her at the table. They had finished making breakfast just a few minutes ago and they now waited for their daughter to join them so they could eat together. Ochako said a quick thanks before she sat down at the table and immediately began devouring the food. Her mother gave her father a concerned look as she started shoving large portions of food into her mouth before washing it down with water, barely tasting or chewing the food as it went down. He mother was concerned she may make herself choke if she didn't slow down.

"Wait, slow down honey you don't want an upset stomach, especially today" her father lightly scolded her knowing that if she had to use her quirk a lot today she would probably end up getting sick, and eating too much too fast would just make it worse. She swallowed the food in her mouth before apologizing to her parents. She scolded herself for forgetting her manners as she began eating slower and at a much more reasonable pace. The kitchen was mostly filled with silence as they all ate breakfast, except for the occasional conversation about their work at the construction company and the usual boring but necessary talks that accompanied it.

After breakfast was done ochako grabbed her backpack filled with anything she would need for today as her mother grabbed her keys for the car. Ochakos mother had work later than usual that day and had enough time today to drive her daughter to UA.

"Have a safe day honey" her father waved to his daughter as she put on her shoes at the door.

"I will!" Ochako said as she smiled at her father before standing up.

"You ready ochako?" Her mother asked her as she opened the door. Ochako nodded before they both left their home.

She was so excited and nervous about today. The day of the practical portion of the entrance exams. She had to make sure she put 200 percent effort into today. It didn't matter if she ended up puking a few times in the process, she had to ace this exam no matter what. She looked at her mother who smiled at her as they made their way to the car. Only an hour left til she had to get to U.A. for the exam, hopefully things go well and her nerves calm down by then.

*Bang bang bang*

"Hey! Get up already or you're going to be late!" The heavily scarred man said as he looked at the door and the cutesy make shift nameplate on it made with a white board. It read 'Toga Himiko' with hearts in place of the O's and the top of the I's. There were a few more bangs on the door before it burst open and a knife went flying past the face of the man that was knocking and lodged itself into the wall behind him. The taller man didn't even flinch as he looked down at the small blonde girl glaring at him with burning amber eyes that reminded anyone who saw them off a cats eyes. This little girl was Toga, their youngest member and the one with the most love to give, whether or not other people wanted it.

The man just rolled his eyes as the girl pulled out another knife from seemingly nowhere. He just sighed before turning around and pulling the knife from the wall. "Hey don't get mad at me I'm just the messenger. You can blame our oh-so-magnificent leader for waking you up from your beauty sleep" he held out the knife for the young girl to take. "Besides if you didn't wake up soon you were going to be late for your little hero test today." toga just took the knife before turning around and tossing them on her dresser with the rest of them. The man looked into the girl's room and noticed a bunch of clothes thrown all over the bed.

"I wasn't sleeping I was getting my clothes ready" She grabbed her usual schoolgirl clothes from the pile before turning around. "Now if you don't mind I'd like a little privacy grill face!" The girl slammed the door in front of his face. He just sighed as he put his hands in his coat pockets. Who knew having someone so young as a member of the league would be such a pain in the ass.

The man went outside the old dilapidated building where he saw the vehicle he and Toga were supposed to use to get to this UA, the supposedly best school in Japan for heroes. the vehicle was just a normal white van and didn't stand out so much so it was perfect for their needs of keeping a low profile in the busy city, well except for the driver.

"Dabi! what's taking so long!" The green-scaled man called from the driver's seat.

"She'll be down in a minute lizard face" Dabi didn't like driving around with this guy, it just made him car sick because of his reckless driving he said he learned from some video games.

"Who are you calling lizard face Mister Frankenstein?!"

"Frankenstein was the doctor, not the monster dimwit"

Dabi groaned as he got into the back of the van, he just knew today was just going to give him a headache.

"Yeah, whatever," the lizard-like man said under his breath.

After twenty minutes toga came out of the abandoned building and skipped gleefully over to the vehicle.

"Hurry up and get in already" spinner said as he honked the horn

Dabi narrowed his eyes before putting his hand forward to stop toga from getting in the van. "Hand them over, I doubt you need more than one for this and they may not even let you use it in the exam. If you do they might think you're a villain and arrest you on the spot." He was half joking and half serious as he looked at the small girl in front of him who began to pout.

"Fine!" She pulled out two knives from under her skirt and two more from behind her back before handing them over. He took them and threw them in a random bucket in the back of the van as Toga got in to the van after him. After a minute the vans engine started up and they began driving off. Spinner turned the radio on to some random station playing a pop song that annoyed dabi but had toga singing along under her breathe. They eventually made it to the freeway where they drove across the city until they could see the school in the distance. They got off on an off ramp and drove through some mild traffic as they sprayed the school.

"We're going to have to drop you off a few blocks from the school so you're going to have to walk the rest of the way there." The lizard-like man said as they stopped at a red light and Dabi had to stop himself from flying forward at the sudden stop. He really hated driving with this man, whatever his real name was, all he knew was he went by spinner.

"Ugh, fine I'll walk there" Toga groaned at having to walk for what seemed like a few blocks.

"Good let's get you there then," he said as he pressed too hard on the gas and swerved a little into the next lane.

"Hey, lizard! could you not get us pulled over before we even get there!"

"If you want to drive instead then fine go ahead!" He gestured to the wheel and Dabi just sighed as he tried not to focus on how much they were moving. Curse him for knowing he never got a license or learned how to drive.

After forty agonizing minutes, they arrived at their destination and dropped Toga off far enough from the building so no one could see them together.

"Have fun at school honey" Spinner said in an obvious fake tone that sounded like a mother talking to her child.

"Try not to get into trouble," Dabi said as Toga grinned and began running down the streets to get to UA.

"Hopefully she makes it in otherwise the boss will be pissed," Spinner said as he began to drive off but dabi opened the back of the van.

"Nope! I'm out I'll walk," Dabi said as he was getting out of the vehicle.

"Hey wait what if someone sees you?! You're not exactly subtle looking you know"

"I'd rather take that chance than spend another minute in this van with you" he climbed out and began walking in the opposite direction of Toga.

"Fine then have it your way" Spinner drove off but not before flipping Dabi off as he passed him. Dabi flipped him off back but he was obviously too far away to see him.

This was it. She was finally here at UA. Ochako looked up at the large pristine building that looked like four large glass towers connected together. she smiled as she began making her way to the entrance but out of the corner of her eye she saw a green-haired boy not paying attention to what he was doing and a blonde boy who yelled something before shoving past him. She was about to turn away and go back to looking at the building, but she saw the boy trip over himself and ended up falling forward. he was about to hit the ground but she quickly reached out and used her quirk to stop him from falling.

"You should be more careful and pay attention. it's not a good omen to trip and fall" she told the boy as she raised her quirk.

"Oh!, uh, yes, sorry" the boy stammered as she turned around and began walking to the entrance of the U.A. building.

A few minutes later.

Toga finally arrived at her destination. She looked around at all the people walking towards the large building. She frowned as she couldn't find anyone that interested her even a little bit. She sighed as she followed the other people, hopefully, when she gets into this school she can find more interesting people, maybe she will find a new love here. What would their blood taste like? She smiled as she began skipping past the other people.

"Welcome to today's performance everybody!" Ochako watched as a blonde-haired man shouted out at the large crowd of people seated in front of him. She thought the man was a bit weird and strange, especially his outfit. She realized he must be a pro hero by the way he dresses but she didn't recognize him at all. She heard two people talking nearby loud enough for her to hear them.

"It's the voice hero present mic! I always listen to his radio show every week!" An enthusiastic boy's voice said.

"Just shut up nerd," a quieter but more angry voice said.

So his name was present mic. She still thought he was weird as he explained what they would be doing today in their exam. They would be going to test locations and fighting against faux villains to score points. One kid wearing glasses decided to interrupt the man's speech to go over the rules over one of the enemies that wasn't explained.

She understood almost all of the rules now and she hoped she would do well on the exam. She wiped her palms on her pants as they felt sweaty.

"Okay then everybody, plus ultra!" The man yelled as the lesson was over. Everyone got up and began making their way out of the building and to the testing locations.

"Ugh, this is boring!" Toga groaned as she walked around the large crowds gathered in front of what looked like a large fake city surrounded by a large wall.

'First, that weird-haired guy yelling boring stuff for like an hour and now they had to fight fake enemies that didn't even bleed. This sucks' Toga sighed as she looked over the crowds of people to see if there was anyone interesting. That one's kinda cute she thought as she looked at a girl with green hair. That one definitely isn't she thought as she looked at an overly muscular boy that looked like it he flexed too much he would poop like a grape. Maybe that one?

She started going over how cute some of the people were inside of her head, of course, if she said this out loud people would think she was weird or be suspicious of her. No, there was no one here that was cute enough she was about to give up when her eyes stopped when she saw a green-haired boy staring at someone. He's kinda cute. A less than cute boy came up to talk to the green-haired boy and she turned away as she lost interest in them.

She decided to see what the green-haired boy had been looking at and as she did she froze in place. There stood a dark-haired girl in a tracksuit who looked like she was meditating. Her eyes went wide as she looked the girl over and her heart skipped a beat. The girl was so cute, maybe even the cutest girl she had ever seen. She began smiling to herself as she thought of going over to the girl but she decided to observe her from afar for now. Her hair was a lovely shade of brown and her cheeks had a slight permanent blush to them. Her own cheeks became a deep red as she thought of what her blood tasted like, and other unsavory things about her.

"What a creep," a faint girl's voice said from off to her right her.

"Her smile is so creepy, let's stay away from her" She turned around to see a few people had begun whispering and giving her strange looks, looks she was all too familiar with. She started to feel rage build up in her chest and she wanted to reach for the hidden knife she had, but she didn't. She sighed as she clenched her fists and turned around to try and ignore them. She couldn't do anything about them or she risked getting in trouble and she needed to behave to get into that hero school, but they were so annoying and it was so tempting.

She decided to go back to looking at the cute girl she had found earlier. She needed to find out her name so she could find her later, she didn't want to lose any chance to see this girl again.

"Aaaand begin!" She heard a loud voice yell. She turned to look up and saw that weird man yelling again. 'Wait begin?!' she turned around and saw the girl and the large crowd had begun rushing off to the fake city.

She began running as she tried to catch up to the crowd, especially that girl but after they entered the city she lost sight of her as the crowd split apart and went separate ways. She looked around for the girl as she ran past a few empty buildings but couldn't find her and could only find these stupid robots that were all over the place. She screamed as she took her hidden knife out and started to take her anger out on a few of them as she broke and dismantled them one by one. She stabbed one in its red glowing eye causing it to slam into another dinosaur looking one. She took her knife and stabbed between it's neck joints causing it to spark before malfunctioning and flinging itself into another green robot.

After a few minutes and many broken robots, she had calmed down enough for her to think. She vaguely remembered these robots were worth points but she didn't remember the details all she knew was she had to break these. So she ran off to find more and was careful to avoid others so they didn't see her with a knife, or if they did she made sure she destroyed the robots fast enough that no one could get a good glimpse at her. After a while, there was a loud thundering that seemed to shake the fake city and she looked towards where it was coming from. She saw a giant robot had appeared in the field.

'How the fuck were they supposed to take that out!? Especially her and one knife' She decided she would avoid it and go after the smaller ones instead. But as a few people ran past her to get away from the giant she saw someone on the ground in the path of the robot. 'Tough luck kid' she thought as she tried to turn around and run, but she stopped when she saw who it was. It was her! That girl from earlier.

Her mind suddenly went blank as she turned around and began running towards the girl as fast as she could and past a meek green-haired boy who was frozen solid in fear.

She only had one thought in her head as everything else faded away and became secondary, she couldn't let anything happen to the girl and she ran with all her might until she reached her.

"Get up!" She said as she began picking the girl up.

"Thank you," the girl said as she slowly got to her feet.

But as they were getting up a piece of a building fell next to them blocking their path out and knocking the girl to the floor again. Toga turned to the giant robot and readied her knife. She didn't know what her plan was but she didn't want anything to happen to this girl, she didn't know why but every fiber of her being was saying protect her. That was the only thought in her head as she clenched her knife until her knuckles turned white and prepared to do something stupid, the thoughts of the league and her mission didn't matter right now as that was all pushed to the back of her head. She knew she was being stupid and couldn't realistically do anything. She prepared herself for anything as the giant robot took another step forward and sent more debris falling around them.

Then there was a loud sound as something glowing red shot through the air and towards the robot's head. Then there was a loud bang as its giant head caved in from a tremendous force. it started to fall backward as its body broke apart underneath it. She was stunned at what she saw. How could something take that out? She was so distracted she barely heard the girl behind her.

"Look over there!" The girl behind her said as she pointed to someone in the sky. They looked so small from how far up they were, but as they fell towards the ground she realized that they were probably going to die from falling that high up. Oh well maybe they would make a beautiful red splatter when they hit the ground.

"Quick throw me!" The girl said as she pointed to the person that was falling. They were getting closer to the ground now and she didn't know why the girl wanted her to throw her. But she saw the serious look in the girl's eyes and she understood that she had to trust her. So she picked up the girl and threw her with all her might at the poor person falling from the sky. She didn't know how this was going to help them but she decided to trust the weird girl's judgement. She saw as the girl finally reached her target and smacked the poor person's face as she sailed past them before plummeting.

Toga ran past the green-haired person that was about to hit the ground and she expected a loud splat as she reached out and caught the brown haired girl before she hit the ground.

Toga was barely able to keep herself up right from the momentum pulling her down after catching her. She wasn't that physically strong as her legs wobbled before she fell to her knees.

"Ugh," the weird girl grunted as she climbed off of toga and looked at where the green-haired boy fell. Toga followed her eyes and was surprised to see the boy wasnt a bloody pancake on the ground and was floating a foot off the ground. She must have a gravity quirk if she was able to keep him from going splat. Toga was a little disappointed she didn't get to see a human pancake today.

She looked at the weird girl who put her hands together and said "release" which caused the boy to fall to the ground and she instantly turned sickly green before running over to a piece of debris and began throwing up behind it. Toga cringed as she heard the grossness of the girl puking and the groaning green boy who had a few broken limbs.

Toga smiled as she looked around at the destroyed fake city and all that happened today. Perhaps pretending to be a hero won't be so bad after all.
