Lacey blinks. “You knew? You let him leave!”
“I told him to. It’s her birthday.” Gabi explains with a soft smile, tugging Lacey upstairs.
“Wait. But I thought you hated Lena?”
Gabi scoffs. “I never hated Lena. She hated me. There’s a difference. But it doesn’t really matter. She’s his sister.” Gabi nudges a door open and tugs Lacey inside. “Sisters are very important.” She remarks, pecking Lacey’s cheek. “And it gives us a night alone in our own house— Which we haven’t been able to enjoy since a certain someone gave me a certain gift.”
Lacey frowns, lashes batting bashfully. “I was trying to help.” She mutters.
“I know.” Gabi assures, pecking her lips next. “And I like my gift. I just like having my house back more sometimes.”
“You want me to find something to do?” Lacey offers. “I could go bother Zeke? You could have the house all to yourself!”
Gabi suppresses a laugh and shakes her head. “No. I want you to wash off your day, slip into something comfy, and meet me downstairs so we can have a girls night.”Series
