It finally happened

Summary:

After all this time, Aziraphale finally decided to try this thing humanity can't stop thinking about...

Notes:

Hope it made you smile (on the inside) Sam!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Aziraphale entered the shop with a bounce in his steps, not even sparing a glance to the humans browsing the shelves and making a beeline for his friend sitting behind the till with his feet on the desk.

"Crowley, I did it! I finally did it! And you were right, it is not that big a deal."

Crowley gaped, too shocked to react when Aziraphale pushed his feet away with a tutt.

"Angel..."

"I honestly do not know why everyone is making such a fuss about it. It is quite pleasant, I have to admit. Much more than I ever thought it would be. But I would not feel the need to get to it several times a day--"

"Aziraphale--"

"Maybe twice a day, perhaps, but I still do not see why so many people are spending hours on it without even a proper tea break--"

Crowley took a deep breath and held his hand in the air in a sharp motion. " Please , Aziraphale. Just stop for a second."

The angel blinked, and clasped his hands in front of him politely. "My dear?"

Crowley turned around and bared very sharp, definitely inhuman teeth. "The Bookshop is closing, everyone."

The three customers that had been gaping at Aziraphale with scandalized expressions (and poorly concealed curiosity) all but ran out of the shop.

Crowley snapped his fingers to lock the door then turned back to his friend with a delighted grin. "All right, angel. What have you done? Tell me everything ."

Aziraphale frowned in confusion. "But I just told you, Crowley."

"Humour me and tell me again."

The angel held out the cell phone he almost never used. "I created an account on one of these social networking you talk about so much."

Crowley blinked. He had expected something shocking, but not something as wild as this .

"And... you liked it? I thought you would hate it"

"It is rather funny sometimes.  Of course, there is silliness, but I did not expect such a level of support between everyone. I have been pleasantly surprised.  Given the amount of time you spend on it I would have expected much more frustration and meanness."

This time the demon pouted, hiding a slight hurt. He was proud of his work on social media lately. Obviously, the level of pettiness was largely created and nurtured by humans, but he was good at encouraging it, and putting oil on some fire (Crowley loved nothing more than to feed a troll about to starve and see chaos ensue).

"Well, obviously some of them are worse than others. I can't be everywhere. Spent a lot of time on twitter lately… which one did you join? Did you finally get a Facebook account?"

Aziraphale waved a hand dismissively "Oh no, Anathema told me never to go there. I joined one young Newtown recommended to me."

"Newt?" Repeated Crowley incredulously. "You followed Newt's advice about social media?"

"I will have you know he was very helpful."

Crowley rolled his eyes. "All right. Tell me which one it is."

Aziraphale held out his phone with a large smile "It is called the Tumblr. Do you know it?"

Crowley froze, trying very hard not to laugh. A look to his friend helped him get rid of most of his amusement. Aziraphale was beaming, so happy and pleased with himself that even a litter of happy puppies couldn't have competed with such a level of adorableness.

"Yeah, I know it. Not spending a lot of time on it, personally."

The angel's expression crumbled. "But why? Do you not like it?"

Crowley grimaced, shoving his hand in his too small pockets. Not very demonic to answer No, I like it too much, and every time I tried to mess with it, I spent hours scrolling without fomenting even once, until I decided to use it for personal entertainment only.

"Nyeeeeeh, it's not that I don't like it. Just… not very trendy anymore. Much more useful to spread my viles on Tik Tok."

"Tic toc?" Repeated a confused angel, looking down at his phone.

Crowley shook his head. "Don't look it up. You wouldn't like it."

"Oh, I will not. One is more than enough already," declared Aziraphale sagely.

"You're right. But congratulations on joining the new millennium, angel. How about the Ritz to celebrate?"

The beam was back, accompanied by a wiggle. Crowley's usual sarcastic smile turned to maximum fondness, a feat only one particular ethereal creature could accomplish.

"Oh, what a perfect idea, dearest!"

"Don't have any other kind," chuckled Crowley, heading for the door.

"You know," said Aziraphale, following him, "I have seen several people on the Tumblr recommend a new historical series. I wondered if we could watch it together?"

The demon tilted his head. "I'll find it. We can start tonight if you want. What's it about?"

"I have been told it is about piracy. Blackbeard, more precisely."

"Aw, old Edward. He was a pretty funny guy."

"Yes, yes, I know how fond you were of him, Crowley."

"Don't make that face, angel, it was one time only, I told you already! When will you let it go?"

"You getting drunk with someone else and going to watch a magic show together? I do not think I will ever let that go. But if you get us champagne tonight, I will forget about the subject for this century."

"Deal."

Notes:

Sam and I had a conversation about what would the OFMD visionning look like...

I think I'll post these snippets of dialogues as a second chapter tomorrow^^
