Chapter 1: Kitty

Chapter Text

vendetta

Kitty (1)

She was kneeling next to a bed, hands holding tightly her father’s one that was paralyzed due to the poison that got into his system over two months ago. She would be by his side every day for at least an hour if her schedule wasn’t full of meetings and family-related issues that needed to be solved. At least she kept him company while her brother was god-knows-where.

Probably strip club, she thought. Y/N looked at the vintage clock hanging on the wall opposite the bed. The clock was almost striking nine in the evening.

As much as she hated her father, he was the one who made her who she now was. For that, she would be forever grateful. But for the war he started years ago, she would want nothing more than to drown him in the sea right behind their house and watch him suffer. Well, he already was.

No surprise they called him Mad Man. Since his wife died, his behaviour changed. He became a ruthless mob boss and took his reign over the Queens with an iron fist. And since then, he wasn’t there for her or Danny. He blamed everyone for his wife’s death, not realising it was a disease that killed her. But he had to go out there and make enemies.

And it bit him in the ass. His fucked up mind got him to the state he was now in. The Starks and Wolves had enough of his shit and thus, one beautiful day, they took a shot and poisoned him. It paralyzed his body and was now in a coma, living on medication. Attila was barely alive. It was only a matter of time before his body would lose the fight.

A tear escaped her eye, falling down her cheek as she thought back to the moment she was informed of the news. His men took escorted her dome to safety where she was met with her drunken brother who seemed unaffected by the horrible news. Of course not; he was wasted.

A knock on the door brought her back to reality and her head followed the sound. Only one person was allowed to enter without asking.

“It’s time,” said Yelena. “The car’s ready.”

She had her blonde hair in a high ponytail and was dressed in the sluttiest black dress she managed to find. It was decorated with dangerously sexy high heels and diamonds on her ears.

“Where is Danny?” Y/N asked for her brother.

Yelena shrugged. “Last time I saw him was this morning, high and out of mind, per usual.”

Y/N ground her teeth and stood up from the bed, letting her father’s hand rest next to his weak body. She fixed her navy blue skinny mini dress and headed to the door. With one last look at her father, she simply rolled her eyes and left the man to rest there alone.

As both women were walking down the hallway, they were met by several trusted men.

“Find my brother,” she ordered one of them, “and bring him here, now, or I will shoot his other foot, I swear.”

They all knew about the incident – some of the men were present when it happened. Daniel wasn’t happy with their father’s will, making Y/N the new head of the family and the boss of the Foxes. Even though her brother was older, he wasn’t meeting the requirements of a worthy mafia boss.

He was screaming, threatening to suffocate her with a pillow in the middle of the night, and made scenes in the living room while his father’s lawyers were present. The effusion was uncomfortable. But the scene he made showed how incapable he was of leading the people that belonged under their family name. The more he kept screaming, the less patient his sister was.

The moment he threw a glass of whisky at her, she broke, took out her gun and stood up from the couch, pointing it between his eyes. In that second, he was sitting down, hands in the air. To put him in his place, she shot his right foot in front of all the people.

One of the lawyers vomited on their expensive carpet when she saw the blood. The other rather closed his eyes and prayed he wasn’t next. At the end of the night, Y/N paid them extra for witnessing the violence in her house.

Yelena chuckled when she mentioned the incident. “That was a fun night,” she said.

“And here I thought he would learn from that lesson,” Y/N added as she greeted some staff members while they were walking to the entrance hall. “He so desperately wanted to be the boss and look at what he’s doing.”

“Does anyone know that you are the new head of the Foxes?” Yelena turned her head to her friend. “Or those assholes still think your brother is the leader of the skulk?”

Y/N’s lips twitched, wanting them to curl into a smile, but didn’t. They ran down the grand stairs, the sound of their heels echoing around the room, meeting there with Scott and, of course, her brother who was obviously under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

“Ah, little sister,” he almost screamed with a smile and arms spread wide, ready to hug her.

The moment she was close enough, her fist connected with his nose and put him down on the expensive marble floor. Danny shouted. He was whining, holding his nose as blood started to run down his lips and on his clothes.

“I-I’ll be waiting outside,” said Scott and rather disappeared. He knew not to intervene.

“What the fuck, Y/N?” Danny gasped, eyes filling with tears.

She crouched to him, trying to keep her ass hidden under her dress. “Listen to me, brother. If you keep this shit up, I will shoot your other foot and let you bleed the whole day, until you are almost out of blood and dead. Maybe then I would let someone help you.”

Yelena was shaking her head. Daniel used to be the responsible one, but that all changed when he got out of university and lived off his father’s money. He became the spoiled little brat.

“Who are you trying to impress, sister?” he asked.

She huffed. “Don’t push the wrong buttons, dear brother,” she stood up. “Someone needs to keep this family together and run Queens. If you forgot, it was me who our father chose. ”

“No one will take a woman seriously,” he laughed at her, trying to stand up on his feet, struggling.

It was like watching Bambi trying to walk for the first time. She kicked him back to the ground. “Sober up and get your shit together, Daniel. We have a business to run and so far, you are nothing but useless. Be the boss you wanted to be. Prove yourself.”

“I have nothing to prove to you, sister,” he spat. He wiped the blood with his hand. “Father has decided that you will run this family, so do it. I am going to enjoy the money and peace.”

“Please, continue like this and I will let Yelena beat the shit out of you. Ha, or better, I will cut you from any income and kick you out of the house.”

Her friend started to laugh and gave him thumbs up. “That would be like a Christmas present for me,” she said with a smile and cracked her knuckles.

He waved his hand. “Fuck you, both. I’m going to clean myself and take a hot shower. Don’t worry, little sister, I will be here.”

Without a response, she rather left the house with Yelena trailing behind her. Some of her men were waiting outside next to parked cars, waiting for her orders. Scott was standing next to her silver Rolls-Royce, smiling as usual.

The sun was already hidden behind the city and night was approaching fast. Everything was going according to plan.

Some Wolves were trying to steal her club OK near the Brooklyn border and take it under their claws. They were mapping the surroundings for weeks, trying to find weaknesses that Foxes may have. Luckily, the people that worked for Y/N kept giving her information the moment they saw them sneaking inside. Loyalty always paid off and the staff of the club knew that.

“Keep your eyes open,” she barked orders. “If you find one Wolf trying to sneak around and get somewhere other than the dance floor or bar, take them downstairs and lock them up. If they cause trouble, you know where to find our good drugs. If you need more weapons, you can find some in our back rooms where only you have access.”

They kept nodding, not questioning her orders. Those who were present knew of her new status and respected her and Attila’s decision.

“Keep up the good work and you will be rewarded well,” she added. “You all know I am way more generous than my father.”

And with that, she sat in the back seat of her car and Yelena took a seat right next to her.

“Have I told you how sexy you look tonight?” Yelena eyed her from head to toes, grinning. “Do you think you will find someone for a one-night-stand?”

“Do you?” she playfully replied.

Scott kept his mouth shut while he drove them through the whole Queens to the club she owned. He kept his eyes on the road, not daring to look at his boss. He could talk to her whenever he wanted, but rather kept to himself.

“Scott?” Y/N said his name to get his attention.

“Yes, boss?”

“You are awfully quiet,” she squinted at him and kept watching his profile. “You are hiding something from me. Spill it.”

“Fuck,” he sighed, shaking his head. “You know me too well.”

“Well, sing, Scotty, otherwise there will be consequences.” Of course, she wouldn’t hurt him. He was a good, hard-working man and a close friend.

He took a deep breath. “Before I arrived, I got a call from Parker. He was able to monitor Wolf’s phone calls and he will be attending tonight with his two closest men.”

Well, would you look at that?

The feared James Barnes had decided to personally visit her club. She had to laugh. Didn’t he know that it belonged to her now? Of course, he didn’t. The word of her promotion hasn’t spread yet. The last time he saw her was years ago. She, on the other hand, was able to keep an eye on him since the moment he became the leader of Wolves.

Barnes was three years older than her but was leading his pack since he was twenty-five. He was surrounded by his two best friends and built an underground empire. People feared him but she didn’t.

Back in the day, their fathers would bring their children to the meetings when the Foxes, Wolves and Starks used to be friends and formed an alliance. During one of them, Y/N and Barnes met, but never got along. He was a mean boy, always making fun of her. He would laugh at her appearance. Y/N wasn’t as pretty as other children or teenagers were. Therefore, he kept his distance from her and rather spent time with Danny.

The very last encounter they had was during her mother’s funeral. He was wearing a black suit and kept his eyes locked on hers the entire time. It made her uncomfortable. As if he was enjoying her suffering.

“This is going to be a fun night,” Y/N said to Yelena.

“What? Are you planning on sleeping with him?” she gasped.

Y/N playfully rolled her eyes. “No, of course not. Here is the thing my friend - Barnes has no idea what I look like; hell, he doesn’t even know I exist. It’s been years since he last saw me. And back in the day, I was - well - ugly. Now, I have the upper hand.”

“Don’t say that,” Yelena smacked her shoulder. “You were never ugly.”

“Oh, I was,” Y/N continued. “I had extra weight, was unattractive and when puberty hit, it hit hard. You didn’t know me back then.”

The blonde shook her head. “I bet you were charming and adorable. We would totally be friends,” said Yelena and Y/N just rolled her eyes with a grin. “So, he has no idea, at all?” When Y/N shook her head with an evil grin, Yelena laughed. “Tell me, did you have a crush on him?”

Y/N thought back, trying to dig down to her buried feelings about the Wolf boy. “Eh,” she sighed, “I think I had a tiny one. But the moment he started to act like a dick, I was over him.”

“Boss,” Scott interrupted them. “Just be on the lookout. If Barnes is there, his two men will be by his side the whole time.”

When they arrived at the club, it was already filled with many people. Some of them tried to get inside but the bouncer wouldn’t let them in. He was waiting for whether they would try to bribe him into letting them inside.

The music was too loud, the deep bass echoing around the street, whetting the people’s appetite for a dance. The club was a hot spot, a place where fantasies could come to life. There were theme parties and celebrations. It was well known for the good drugs people were able to buy there.

Yelena and Y/N left the car, heading towards the main entrance. The bouncer was already looking at them, smiling. “Evening, Miss Fox,” he greeted her politely and let them pass through. Some people started to shout at them, pissed that they were able to get in.

The interior was covered in various colours, but mostly blue, pink and purple would dominate. Bubbles were floating around the air as they kept falling on the dancing crowd. The whole place was shaking. It was a typical party in the OK – Only Kaos.

They walked around the club, greeting the employees until they got seated in their usual booth in the VIP section with the perfect view of the dance floor and the bar. There was already iced champagne standing in a bucket waiting for them.

“How much are we drinking tonight?” Yelena shouted when she grabbed the bottle and checked the label. “Shit, Dom Pérignon, fancy.”

“The best for the best,” Y/N winked at her and sat down, making herself comfortable. Her eyes were locked on the wild crowd, trying to spot any wolf there. In the past, she collected pictures of the men that worked for Barnes. It was only a matter of minutes when she spotted the first one.

Yelena popped the champagne and poured the drink into glasses. “What do you see?” she asked.

“Wilson, three o’clock,” Y/N took the glass and put it closer to her lips, eyes never leaving the intruder. “And Rogers,” she added when Sam stopped next to a tall blond man.

Both of them were hanging next to a bar, waiting for their drink orders. She could see their lips moving. What were they talking about? She moved her eyes a little more, trying to find the boss.

“Found the Wolf,” Yelena informed her. “He’s sitting on the other side in the Silver VIP lounge.”

Y/N checked the other VIP and found Barnes sitting there like a king, talking to unknown random girls who were turning and twisting around him like snakes. He was smiling at them, laughing, touching their shoulders and thighs – always the womanizer. A minute later, Wilson and Rogers approached the table with drinks in their hands. A waitress followed them with a round tray filled with the most expensive bottles they served.

Yelena’s phone vibrated. “Shit, they have found some men sneaking around the place,” she informed her boss.

“Fuckers,” Y/N growled. “I will break their fingers.”

“Just their fingers?” she asked with a twisted smile. “Have you gone soft?”

“That’s just foreplay.”

Two girls grabbed Barnes by his hands, trying to pull him from the VIP. One was a tall, skinny blonde bimbo and the other a curly brunette that was shorter than her friend - Y/N assumed those girls were friends. Somehow, they managed to take the boss out of his warm spot and dragged him to the dance floor.

Y/N refilled her glass with the champagne. This was her moment to get closer to him and get something out of him. “W-wait, where are you going?” Yelena stopped her when Y/N stood up.

“I am going dancing,” she replied. “You can always join me.”

Yelena shook her head. “No, thanks. I’m too sober to dance. I’m going to go check on our boys and get some info out of the Wolfs. That is my fun time.”

They split. Yelena went to the back of the club where she disappeared.  Several of their men followed her. Y/N danced her way into the centre of the dance floor, enjoying the beat and the rhythm of the music. She held her champagne high in the air, rolling her hips seductively. It seemed as if she danced her troubles away. For a second, she forgot about her brother and dying father. She focused on the Wolves who tried to subjugate her club. The music felt good. The light show was spectacular and some bubbles fell on her head and body.

It was until the moment someone hit her back and she spilt the champagne right into her cleavage – on purpose because she made her way as close to the Wolf as possible. “What the fuck?” she frowned and turned on her heel, ready to make a scene.

Luck was on her side and she was met with Barnes who had a bright smile on his face. This was the first time in years she was close to the man. He changed a lot. He was tall, muscular and had longer hair that suited him well.

His blue eyes scanned her whole figure, licking his lips when he found her dress wet. “Sorry, sweetheart,” he shouted and gave her his full attention. “My presence obviously got you all wet.” He spoke loudly, so she could hear him.

Instantly, she started to play with him the way she wanted. Her fingers got lost between her breasts, trying to get out the liquid. “W-well, you better watch yourself next time,” she winked at him and licked her champagne covered digits, swirling her tongue around one of the tips.

His mouth almost fell on the floor as he kept watching her actions. “Let me repay you,” he suggested and put two of his fingers under her chin. “What’s your name, doll?”

She wanted to laugh - he had no idea. She blinked a few times. “I’m Kat,” she leaned to his ear, “but my friends call me Kitty.”

“Hello there, Kitty,” he said to her ear and put both of his hands on her hips. He danced with her to the beat of the music. “Do you purr?”

Y/N wanted to stab his foot with her heel. “I don’t know,” she giggled. “Would you like to find out?” She drank the rest of the champagne and threw the glass on the floor, not caring that it broke under the feet of dancing people. Her hands wrapped around his neck.

With an eye, she caught the two girls cursing her because she stole Barnes from them. They should thank her later. If only they knew who he was; or who she was.

His nose brushed against her neck, inhaling her scent. She smelled like candy and champagne. One of his hands travelled down her side until it found her ass and squeezed it. She wanted to smash his head with her forehead. To stay in the role, she moaned. Luckily, she was able to at least roll her eyes in annoyance.

“It does purr,” he smiled, satisfied.

How could people fear him? A single pussy would make him go soft and weak, as he was now.

“Isn’t this club amazing?” she asked cheerfully and looked at him.

Barnes roughly turned her around. He pinned her back against his chest. His hands pressed on her hips and made her ass rub against his crotch. She could feel his semi-hard cock pressing against her lower back. It took her a lot of strength not to gag. “You think? Well, thanks but I will do some changes to it.”

There it was. “You own this place?” it took her a few seconds to replay and not to break from her character.

“Yeah, I do,” he said nonchalantly. His lips ghosted over her neck. “You smell divine, Kitty. I would eat you if you’d let me.”

Her eyes travelled to her booth, discovering Yelena sitting on the expensive leather as she kept massaging her fist. Something must have happened. She seemed pissed and even drank the champagne straight from the bottle. That was never a good sign.

When his fingers found her exposed thigh and slowly ran up under her dress, she swiftly turned on her heel and looked into his eyes.  She had to do it; otherwise, she would blow it up. “You are cute, club owner,” she giggled.

He laughed. “I’m Bucky, kitten. But thanks for the title.”

Fucking womanizer, she thought and put a fake bright smile on her face. If only he could see inside of her mind; how she wanted to beat the shit out of him, break his bones right in the middle of the dance floor.

A man she recognized from the pictures had approached him. His face seemed distraught and he started to talk straight into Bucky’s ear. His hands let her go, and his smile was long gone. “…Raven was here,” that was all she heard.

Y/N licked her lips and kept staring at the Wolf. That information alone made her soul happy.

“Sorry, Kitty, but I have to deal with a certain issue. See you in a minute?” he asked and brushed her cheek with a finger. “I’ll treat you with a fancy drink once I am back.” Oh, suddenly he was insatiable.

Y/N winked at him, turned on her heel and walked away from him.

That’s why Yelena was pissed? Something must have gone to shits. Before she headed back to her booth, she stopped at the bar and ordered double vodka that she then brought to her friend. It was necessary to stop at the bar. She never knew if Barnes was watching her. He seemed too interested in her. Did he know who she was?

Her hair was different; her skin was flawless, and her body changed due to the workout her father and the military put her through. Y/N was a changed person, and he wouldn’t be able to identify her now.

Without a word, she handed Yelena the shot and forced her to drink it. “What happened?”

“Those assholes,” she drank the alcohol and her nose and forehead wrinkled. “We had five Wolves in the basement, trying to get to our weapons. They were almost successful. Such pigs, talking shit about me while I was standing there with our boys. I lost my temper.”

Y/N laughed. “What did you do?” she raised a brow.

“One ended with a burnt hand, the second had all his fingers broken. The third one is unconscious and the last two have knives stuck in the back of their hands.”

“Well,” Y/N sighed, “Barnes obviously got the memo because he left me at the dance floor.”

“Ah, shit.”

“Did our men take those pussies out of here?”

Yelena nodded, “of course, they will throw them out on the north border. I had instructed them to drug them - you know, precaution. They won’t remember a thing.”

“Good girl,” Y/N praised her friend. “Shall we watch the scene unfold?”

Together, they left the club through the staff-only door, heading straight to the back stairs that led them to the highest floor. There were some offices used for business. They kept the lights off and took off their high heels so as not to make any excessive sound. The whole floor was very echo-y due to the lack of furniture.

The offices were used for occasional business – usually dealing with drugs, distributing them and invoicing. It would happen once a month, twice if something fucked up.

They approached a window that gave them a perfect view of pissed Barnes barking orders at his men. Y/N carefully opened the window enough to let the sound in and listened to their voices.

“How the fuck could this happen?!” he was screaming at one of his men who trembled with fear. “Did any of you see anything or are you all that blind?”

Wilson came out of the club, holding a phone in his hand. “I’ve checked the inside of the club. Haven’t seen Raven there. Some Foxes were standing around, but they just remained in their spots and never moved. Something’s very off.”

“Fucking Raven, fucking Foxes. Fuck!” Bucky shouted. Y/N wanted to laugh. “I will get them one day and make them pay for everything. I just hope fucking Mad Man will rot in his grave.”

“The last thing I’ve heard he was still alive,” said Steve. He was standing by his boss. “Give it a week or two, and he will drop dead. It’s not getting any better.”

Y/N closed her eyes when she heard them talking about her father. She, too, was waiting for his death because he deserved nothing more. He was the one who brought them here, made enemies with business partners and friends.

“You alright?” Yelena asked gently to which Y/N simply nodded. “How was dancing with the devil?”

She pretended to gag. “Barnes has no filter; would be capable of fucking me in front of the people. But the funny part, I introduced myself as Kat - but friends call me Kitty,” her voice changed to a soft, seductive yet naïve one. “I don’t know why I said my mum’s name.”

“He really believed that?” her friend tried to hold her laugh. “He’s an idiot.”

“Well, yeah, but unfortunately, I must admit he is a sexy idiot,” she thought about his face and well-built body. No wonder women were throwing themselves at him. Did they know he was a mob boss? “Seeing him this close, I was impressed how handsome he got throughout the years.”

“Just don’t fall in love,” Yelena warned her with a grin.

“Please. Once he finds out the truth he will try to kill me.”

They looked outside the window again, noticing the Wolves were leaving the club in their cars. Barnes should remember not to mess with them; otherwise, they’d pay for being nosey.

“What more did he say?”

“He thinks he’s the owner of the club who is going to make some changes.”

“Huh? What changes? Was he drunk?” Yelena shook he head.

“We didn’t get to that because we were interrupted by one of his men, and then the playtime was over,” Y/N laughed.

“Good thing his men paid for his words,” Yelena said proudly. “It was a lot of fun.”

“What a fucking liar,” Y/N turned her attention away from the window, heading to the nearest dust-covered table. “Well, I hope he will never forget this night. He will learn not to stick his nose into my business.”
