Summary
Draco had gotten it wrong. He’d thought that they had been working towards something new. He’d hoped, for a brief moment, that there’d be something worth coming back to England for, but they weren’t different people, after all, no matter how changed he felt.
Some things aren’t able to be glossed over or set aside. Scars, for example. Hadn’t scars been the thing that started it all? And now it’s ended with two different scars on opposite arms of two very different people and he didn’t know why he'd thought that’d be something either of them could ever ignore.
Both scars had only ever caused her pain.

Summary
Story is set in 2006 - 8 years after the death of Voldemort. Cora DuPont is a 25-year-old witch from Massachusetts with a troubled past. She studied magic at Ilvermorny. Looking for a change she moves to London and accepts a job as an Auror at the Ministry of Magic. She is assigned to Draco Malfoy. The Ministry has been keeping and annoyingly close eye on the Malfoy's after the Battle of Hogwarts. What starts out as a fling turns into way more than either of them bargained for.
Her face was mere inches from his. "You're alive Draco, you survived and you're here; you are no coward. A weaker person wouldn't have survived that. Your strength and courage are evident."
Draco's anger reached a tipping point. He pushed her off of him.
"Strong......you think I'm strong! Is this what a strong man looks like?" He wrenched up the sleeve on his left forearm.
"I'm branded...... like cattle!" His voice and body started shaking. "Why are you here? I am not a man deserving of you. You should go find this strong man that you speak of."
