Work Text:
Warmth, redolent of a hot shower, enveloped Shun. He was surrounded by a bundle of blankets, clutching his body pillow close. Squeezing it, he nuzzled his nose into it and took in its burnt wood and homey scent. It wiggled in response.
Wait—
Any nebulosity Shun held had vanished. Faster than light, Shun’s red, dilated eyes shot open. In front of him was a sea of moss green. The colour of the shirt Aren had worn yesterday when he asked if they could have a sleepover.
As embarrassing as accidentally cuddling with your best friend was, Shun found he didn’t have the strength to let go. Aren’s heat was comforting. So he didn’t untangle their legs or remove the arm he draped over Aren’s side.
A rosy blush tinted his cheeks at the thought of what he was doing. Did Aren even want to end up like this? Maybe he should let go? He could just pretend to be sleeping if Aren woke up. Okay. He crossed his fingers (mentally, he didn’t want to risk anything by moving), hoping for at least a few more minutes. If Aren wakes, it would mean their cuddling would cease and that was the last thing he wanted. Yes, that was gay, but who said Shun wasn’t little fruity?
Suddenly, Aren shifted, tucking Shun’s fluffy head under his chin. He tightened his grip on Shun’s waist.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god—
Stifling a yawn, the delinquent greeted, “‘Mornin’ Shun.”
“Good morning?” Dammit. Faking sleep wasn’t an option anymore.
“Did you sleep well?”
“Ye-yeah.”
“Good.”
Pause.
“Oh, shit—” Aren pulled away, leaving Shun cold. “Sorry, dude. That must have been uncomfortable.”
Before he could stop himself, he blurted in response, “It was actually really comfy.”
Why are you like this?
“A-and, um, physical contact increases, uh…strength stuff since we’re…sharing our energy, so, like, i-if Dark Reunion attacks, which we always have to be prepared for, we’ll have better odds at over powering them! Not that Black Beat isn’t powerful enough. Or you! It’s just, extra power stuff is…good?” Aced it, Shun. Wow. So convincing.
Blinking sluggishly, Aren considered the ramble for a second. “Yeah, I’d be willing to physically contact for some extra power stuff,” he said and wrapped his arms around Shun once again.
Burnt wood was quickly becoming one of the best scents ever.
