    Aren opened his mouth to say something and then closed it again. Something made him feel like he should wait, like if he moved or spoke he might scare Shun off, as though he was some sort of wild animal. Muffled music from the gym was the only sound for a long moment, the closing bars of a fast-paced rhythm giving way to the soft beginning of a love song, the shuffling of feet as some people deserted the dancefloor and others rushed to find their date.
    “Would you. . .” Shun whispered. “Would you like to dance with me?”

    Aren has never had a friend like Shun; he's special in a way that Aren can't quite figure out. That is, until a dance brings them much closer than they've ever been.
